Open Google Flights, enter your origin, destination, dates, passenger count, cabin and stop preferences, then turn on Track prices. Choose Any dates instead when your schedule is flexible. Sign in to your Google Account so Google can save the tracker and send email alerts. You can later change notifications or delete the tracker from Tracked Flights.
What a Google Flights price alert does
A price alert watches the search you save and emails you when Google detects a meaningful change. For a fixed-date search, the tracker follows the route and dates you searched. You can also select one specific itinerary and track that flight rather than the broader results.
Alerts are not limited to fare drops. Google says an email may warn that a tracked route is likely to become more expensive, or that the current fare is expiring and the replacement fare is likely to cost more. The message includes an estimated increase and Google’s confidence in that estimate.

Google Flights is a search and monitoring service, not the final seller. When you decide to buy, you complete the transaction on the airline’s website or on a preferred booking platform. The fare, baggage allowance, change conditions, taxes, payment requirements and availability shown on that provider’s page control the purchase. Google does not promise that an alerted price will still be available or guaranteed when you click through.

What you need before creating an alert
- A route with an origin and destination.
- Trip dates, unless you plan to use Any dates.
- The number of tickets or passengers.
- Your cabin class.
- A decision about the maximum number of stops.
- A Google Account. Google’s saved-tracking page says you must be signed in to track prices and receive alerts.
- An email address on that account that you check often enough to act on a fare change.
Set the stops, cabin and passenger count before enabling tracking. Changing those search settings creates a different set of results, so an alert for one search should not be treated as an alert for another configuration.
Set a price alert for fixed travel dates
Use this method when you already know when you need to travel and want Google to monitor those searched dates.
- Open Google Flights.
- Enter your origin and destination.
- Enter the departure and return dates shown for your trip.
- Set the number of passengers or tickets.
- Choose the cabin class.
- Use the stops control to choose the stop limit that fits your trip.
- Run the search and review the results so you know the route and itinerary settings are correct.
- Turn on Track prices for the route and searched dates.
- If you want to watch one particular option, open that result, select the flight, and switch on tracking for the selected itinerary.
- If Google asks you to sign in, sign in to the Google Account that should receive the messages. A signed-in account is required for saved tracking and alerts.
Route tracking is useful when you care about the trip’s dates and general fare movement. Tracking a selected flight is narrower: it follows the itinerary you chose instead of treating all matching results as interchangeable.
Track a trip when your dates are flexible
Choose Any dates when you can move your trip and your main goal is finding a lower fare during a broad period rather than protecting a particular departure and return date.

- Open Google Flights and enter the origin and destination.
- Set the passenger count, cabin and stop preferences.
- Open the date controls and choose Any dates instead of entering one fixed pair of dates.
- Review the route-level results and confirm that the flexibility matches what you can actually travel.
- Turn on tracking and sign in to your Google Account if prompted.
Google says that tracking Any dates sends an email when the route’s minimum price drops significantly over a month. If there is no significant drop, Google sends a regular email with the best available prices. This is route-level monitoring: the message is not a promise that one particular flight on one particular day will be available at the quoted amount.
Fixed dates or Any dates: which tracker fits?

How to confirm that tracking is active
After you enable tracking, remain signed in to the same Google Account. The saved-tracking area is called Tracked Flights. Open it to see the routes and itineraries you have saved. If a tracker is not listed, check that you used the intended account and that the search was saved after you enabled the control.
Do not assume that simply searching for a route creates an alert. The explicit Track prices control, or the tracking control on a selected flight, is the action that saves monitoring.
Change or stop Google Flights emails
- Open Google Flights while signed in to the account that owns the tracker.
- Open Tracked Flights.
- Select the saved route or itinerary you want to change.
- Use the notification control to turn email notifications on or off.
- Choose Remove when you want to stop tracking and delete that saved tracker.
Turning notifications off and removing a tracker are different actions. The notification switch controls email delivery for the saved item; Remove ends the tracking entry itself.

What the alert email can tell you
A significant price change
Google Travel Help says that when the price for a tracked flight or route changes significantly, you can receive an email update. “Significant” is Google’s threshold; it is not a fixed percentage that the documentation promises for every route.
A likely increase
An alert can say that the route is likely to become more expensive. The email may show the estimated increase and Google’s confidence in that estimate. Treat this as a prediction to help with timing, not as a guarantee that the fare will rise by that exact amount.
An expiring fare
Google may warn that the current fare is expiring and that the replacement is likely to cost more. A fare can therefore be worth checking even when you have not seen a dramatic drop notification.

Best prices for flexible dates
With Any dates, Google’s regular best-price email is a discovery aid. Open the message and verify the actual dates, stop count, cabin and passenger count before comparing the fare with your travel requirements.

Check the fare before you buy
An alert is a prompt to inspect the live result, not an automatic booking. Follow this verification sequence:
- Open the alert promptly, because airline inventory and fare classes can change.
- Confirm that the dates or flexible-date option still work for everyone traveling.
- Check the number of stops and the exact flight times.
- Open the itinerary and compare the displayed total with the final amount on the provider’s page.
- Review baggage rules, seat charges, change and cancellation conditions, and any restrictions attached to the fare.
- Confirm passenger names, payment details and the currency before submitting payment.
- Complete the purchase on the airline’s website or your preferred booking platform if the fare and rules are acceptable.
The Google announcement about flight-price tracking identifies those airline and booking-platform channels but does not promise a particular price or booking availability after an alert is sent.

Keep the resulting tracker associated with the Google Account that should receive the messages, and verify the live fare on the provider’s page before paying.

Troubleshoot common alert problems
No email arrives
- Open Tracked Flights and verify that the route or itinerary is present.
- Check that you are signed in to the same Google Account used to create the tracker.
- Open the tracker’s notification control and make sure email notifications are enabled.
- Search your mailbox for Google Flights messages and check spam or filtered folders.
- Allow time for a qualifying change. Google does not say that every small movement generates an email.
The tracker watches the wrong result
- Recheck origin and destination, because reversing them creates a different route.
- Recheck dates, passenger count, cabin and stops.
- If you intended to follow one flight, make sure you selected the itinerary-level tracking control rather than only route tracking.
- Remove the incorrect tracker and create a new one with the corrected settings.
The alert price is different at checkout
Return to the result and inspect the provider’s final page. Availability may have changed, the displayed fare may have expired, or baggage and other optional charges may not have been included in the initial comparison. Use the final total and conditions shown by the airline or booking platform when deciding whether to purchase.
You need to stop messages temporarily
Open the tracker in Tracked Flights and switch notifications off. Use Remove only when you no longer want the saved tracker.
Practical ways to use alerts without losing control
Create separate trackers for genuinely different needs
If one traveler can accept a connection but another requires a nonstop flight, those are different searches. Track them separately rather than changing one tracker back and forth. The same applies when the cabin or passenger count changes.

A route-level flexible alert can surface a lower monthly minimum on dates you cannot use. For an event, work obligation or school schedule, fixed-date tracking keeps the monitored search aligned with the trip you will actually take.
Use Any dates only when you can act on the flexibility
The value of Any dates is the ability to move to a cheaper day. If you cannot change the dates, create a fixed-date tracker instead so the notifications answer the right question.
Read increase warnings as timing information
A likely-increase message can justify checking the fare sooner, but confidence and estimated increase are still signals rather than guarantees. Make the purchase decision using your schedule, the current final fare and the fare rules.
