To get a reminder for an upcoming cable program, open the Samsung TV’s guide while watching cable, select the program, then choose Schedule Viewing and confirm. The TV can display an on-screen reminder and tune to the program when its countdown ends. The controls and guide data vary by model and channel.
How to schedule a reminder from the cable guide

Set the TV’s source to cable TV, then open the program guide. On some Samsung SolarCell remotes, pressing the channel button inward opens the guide; other remote designs may use a different control.

Use the guide to highlight the upcoming program you want to watch, then press the remote’s Select button.

Choose Schedule Viewing and confirm with OK. The feature and button sequence are described in SamMobile’s September 18, 2026 article; menus can differ on your TV.

What happens when the reminder is due
According to SamMobile, the TV displays a pop-up reminder five minutes before the program by default, and the reminder timing can be changed. When the countdown ends, the TV switches to the scheduled channel and source. That can include switching back to cable if you are watching an app or an HDMI-connected device. The reminder appears on the TV, not as a mobile alert, and scheduled reminders do not sync across Samsung devices.
Limits to keep in mind

SamMobile reports that only one reminder can occupy a time slot. Scheduling another program for the same time replaces the existing reminder.

Guide listings and Schedule Viewing controls may not be available or behave identically on every model, channel, or in every region. Check your TV’s guide and consult the manual and Samsung support information for your country. The sources available do not establish a universal compatibility list.

A reminder is not a recording
Schedule Viewing reminds and tunes; it does not record the show. Samsung Australia describes recording as a separate feature available on selected Smart TVs. Its recording setup requires tuned channels and compatible USB or portable hard-drive storage, and formatting the USB device deletes its existing data. Samsung says that recording feature does not capture content from external devices or Samsung TV Plus, and warns that availability and steps vary by region. Samsung TV Plus uses a different reminder flow
Do not use the TV Plus reminder steps as a substitute for cable-source Schedule Viewing. In a Samsung South Africa support article last updated September 8, 2022, the TV Plus workflow is to select a program in its guide, choose “Set reminder,” then choose a notice at program start or ten minutes beforehand.
