If someone may have stolen your Roblox password or browser cookie, treat the account and the device as compromised. Clean the device first, recover the account through Roblox, set a unique password, revoke unfamiliar sessions in Account Settings → Security → Where you’re logged in, and then enable stronger sign-in protection. If you cannot sign in, contact Roblox Support quickly; ownership checks can use the first email added to the account or the billing email from the first payment, but recovery is not guaranteed.
The sequence matters. A password reset performed on an infected computer can expose the new password, while a reset that leaves a stolen session active may not remove the intruder. The steps below cover both password theft and cookie theft, including what to do when email, password, virtual items, or currency were changed.
1. Clean the device before changing account credentials
Start with the computer or phone that was used when the theft occurred. Roblox’s compromised-account guidance specifically calls for removing suspicious downloads and browser extensions, running a full virus scan, restarting, and scanning again before continuing. This is intended to remove malware or browser add-ons that could capture the replacement password or another session cookie.
Remove suspicious software and extensions
- Uninstall files or programs downloaded immediately before the account problem, especially unofficial Roblox clients, cheats, “free Robux” tools, cracked software, and other off-site downloads.
- Open each browser’s extensions or add-ons page and remove extensions that are not from a safe, verified source or that you do not recognize.
- Do not reinstall an extension merely because it makes Roblox more convenient. Leave it removed until you have verified its publisher and behavior.
Run the required scan sequence
- Run a full device virus or malware scan, not only a quick scan.
- Restart the device after the scan completes.
- Run the full scan a second time after the restart.
Roblox does not require or endorse a particular security-vendor product in this guidance. The requirement is to find and remove malicious software. If the device still shows signs of compromise after the second scan, use a different known-clean device for account recovery and get help cleaning the original device before using it for Roblox again.

2. Recover access and replace the password
Use only the official Roblox website or app login and recovery screens. Do not follow a password-reset link sent by a stranger in chat, on social media, or through a private message. If you are still signed in, open Account Settings and change the password there. If you are signed out, use Roblox’s normal password-recovery flow.
Choose a password that cannot be reused elsewhere
Make the new password unique to Roblox. Roblox recommends a password that has never been used on another service and suggests considering a password manager to generate and store a strong one. Reusing a password is especially dangerous after a theft because attackers may try the same credential against email, game, payment, and social accounts.
- Generate a long, random password with the password manager rather than adapting an old password.
- Do not include your Roblox username, display name, birthday, team name, or another public detail.
- Do not send the password to anyone claiming to be a moderator, trader, helper, or support representative.
When the normal reset does not work
If no email address or phone number is attached to the account, Roblox’s password-help guidance directs you to Customer Support. Roblox must verify ownership before resetting an account or changing account information. The first email address ever added to the account, or the billing email used for the first payment, may help with that review.

If an attacker changed the email address, password, or other account information, submit the support request from an address you can access and describe the sequence accurately. Supplying the original details improves the ownership review, but Roblox does not promise that an account can be recovered.
3. Revoke sessions so a stolen cookie no longer helps
Password theft and cookie theft require different cleanup. A stolen browser cookie can represent an already authenticated session, so changing the password is not a substitute for reviewing active sessions. Roblox documents a specific control for this purpose.

Use the session-management page
- Sign in through the official Roblox site or app.
- Open Account Settings → Security.
- Find Where you’re logged in.
- Review each entry’s device, approximate region, and last-active time.
- Choose Log Out of All Other Sessions to sign out everywhere except the session you are using, or log out suspicious sessions individually.
Older sessions can appear as Unknown when Roblox does not have complete device details. An unfamiliar region, device, or recent activity is a reason to end that session. If you are unsure, logging out all other sessions is the cleaner response after a suspected cookie theft; you can sign in again on trusted devices afterward.
Roblox’s documented guidance does not establish that a password change alone invalidates every existing session or every stolen cookie. Use the session controls explicitly, then change the password and enable additional sign-in protection. If an unfamiliar session returns, repeat the cleanup from a device that has been scanned and contact Support.

4. Add 2-Step Verification and consider Enhanced Protection
Roblox says 2-Step Verification (2SV) is especially helpful when a password has been stolen. A verified email address is required to enable 2SV. In the documented setup, only one 2SV method can be selected at a time, so choose the method you can maintain securely and keep its recovery information available.

Set up 2SV without losing recovery access
- Verify the email address on the Roblox account before enabling 2SV.
- Open the account’s Security settings and select the available 2SV method you intend to use.
- Complete the enrollment prompts on the trusted device or email account.
- Store backup codes somewhere private and offline. Do not paste them into chat, screenshots shared with others, or public notes.
- Test a fresh sign-in while you still have access to the authenticator, email, or security key.
Roblox says each backup code is single-use. You can regenerate the set, but regenerating deactivates the previous codes. Treat a regenerated set as a replacement, not an addition, and update your private storage immediately.
When a hardware key or passkey makes sense
Security keys and passkeys are designed to resist phishing more strongly than a password alone, but they do not replace the rest of the response. A key can be unavailable when you change devices, lose the key, or use an incompatible browser. Enhanced Protection also requires the additional verification layer described above. Keep the required fallback and recovery options usable before removing any older method.

Never assume that enabling one method makes the account immune to every takeover. A compromised device, exposed recovery email, active stolen session, or leaked backup code can still undermine the account. Complete device cleaning, session revocation, and recovery-channel protection as well.

Your Roblox password is only one secret. An attacker who controls the recovery email or receives a 2SV code may be able to regain access after you reset the password.
- Change the recovery email’s password if it was reused, exposed, or entered on the suspicious device.
- Enable the strongest sign-in protection available on that email account and review its active sessions.
- Confirm that the Roblox account’s email and phone details are still yours after recovery.
- Keep authenticator codes, email codes, backup codes, passwords, browser cookies, and personal details private.
- Use Roblox only through its official website or app login. Roblox Support states: “Never give out your password, browser cookies, 2SV security codes, backup codes, personal details, or sensitive computer information either.”
Support staff should not need your password or a browser cookie. If a message asks you to paste a cookie, install a “verification” extension, or enter a code on a look-alike page, close it and use the official login or support route instead.
6. Contact Roblox Support when self-service recovery fails
Contact Roblox Customer Support promptly if the attacker changed your email or password, removed your recovery options, or left you unable to sign in after the device has been cleaned. Explain that the account may have suffered password or cookie theft and list the changes you can document without sending secrets.
Information that can help prove ownership
- The first email address ever added to the account.
- The billing email used for the first payment.
- Your Roblox username and approximate date of the compromise.
- Descriptions of changed account details, suspicious sessions, or unauthorized transactions.
Roblox says those original email details can help its ownership review, but they do not guarantee recovery. Do not create conflicting stories by guessing dates, inventing payment information, or sending someone else’s private data.

If items or currency disappeared
Roblox says restoration of lost virtual items or currency is not guaranteed and may be available only in limited circumstances. Its guidance says to contact Roblox within 30 days of the compromise to seek possible inventory assistance. Treat that as a policy window: waiting can remove an option that might otherwise have been available.
Roblox also says it cannot enforce or recover inventory from deals made outside its official systems. That includes trades or payments arranged through unofficial channels. Provide transaction details to Support, but do not promise yourself or anyone else that an off-platform deal will be reversed.

Recovery is not complete when the login succeeds. Perform a short audit while the account is accessible.
- Open Where you’re logged in again and confirm that only expected sessions remain.
- Check the account email, phone number, 2SV method, passkey, and backup-code status.
- Review recent account changes, purchases, trades, messages, and settings for activity you did not authorize.
- Remove unfamiliar connections or extensions from the cleaned browser.
- Sign out of shared or public devices and avoid saving the Roblox password in a browser profile that other people can open.
If you find another unauthorized change, revoke sessions again before changing anything else. A repeated compromise usually indicates that the device, recovery email, or another session has not been secured.

Resetting the password on the infected device
Changing credentials before removing a malicious extension or program can expose the replacement password. Follow Roblox’s scan, restart, and second-scan sequence first, or recover from a clean device.

Assuming the password reset removed a stolen cookie
The documented session control is Where you’re logged in. Use it to end sessions directly instead of assuming every existing session was invalidated.
Sharing a code or cookie with a supposed helper
Passwords, cookies, 2SV codes, and backup codes are authentication secrets. Roblox explicitly warns not to give them out, even when a person claims to be helping.
Relying on email 2SV while leaving the email account exposed
Email 2SV depends on control of the verified email. Secure that mailbox and review its sessions before treating it as a reliable recovery channel.
Waiting beyond the inventory-assistance window
If virtual items or currency are missing, contact Roblox within 30 days of the compromise. The policy does not promise restoration, but waiting longer can remove the possibility of limited assistance.
Final checklist
- Suspicious downloads and unverified browser extensions removed.
- Full malware scan completed, device restarted, and second full scan completed.
- Unique Roblox password set through the official website or app.
- Unfamiliar sessions ended under Account Settings → Security → Where you’re logged in.
- Verified email and recovery channels secured.
- 2SV, a passkey, or a security key configured with usable recovery options.
- Backup codes stored privately and regenerated if they may have been exposed.
- Support contacted promptly if access, email, password, items, or currency remain compromised.
