Short answer: You should not scrape Glassdoor in 2026 unless Glassdoor has given you express written permission that covers the exact data, methods, volume, and reuse you plan. Glassdoor’s Terms of Use, revised July 1, 2026, prohibit scraping, stripping, or mining the services without that permission. The same terms restrict introducing automated agents, creating an undue burden, interfering with service operation, and circumventing security features.
An account, a publicly visible page, or a URL that happens to respond to a request is not permission. If you need Glassdoor information, first request authorization or use a lawful source that grants the rights you need. This guide explains the current rule, a permission-first workflow, what you can do with your own data, and how to capture pages only when you are authorized.
What Glassdoor’s 2026 terms prohibit
The current Terms of Use identify Indeed, Inc. as the company providing Glassdoor.com and Fishbowlapp.com and define “Glassdoor” accordingly. Section 4.3 says users may not “Introduce software or automated agents to the services, or access the services so as to produce multiple accounts, generate automated messages, or to scrape, strip, or mine data from the services without our express written permission.” The page labels this version as revised July 1st, 2026.

The surrounding provisions also prohibit interfering with or disrupting the service, imposing an undue burden, and attempting to circumvent security features. Glassdoor reserves the ability to restrict use, impose limits, and remove or limit content. Those are contractual rights and enforcement powers; they are not a prediction that a particular request will produce a particular response.

What does not count as permission
- Having a Glassdoor account or being able to view a page while logged in.
- Using a browser, command-line client, or automation library instead of a conventional scraper.
- Finding an undocumented URL, feed, or endpoint that returns data.
- Reducing request speed or adding delays while still collecting data without written approval.
- Using a proxy, rotating identities, defeating a challenge, or otherwise bypassing a control.
The reviewed official material does not document a public, general-purpose scraping API or a self-service bulk-data approval route. Do not assume that an endpoint is approved because it is reachable. Ask Glassdoor directly and retain the written response.
Start with an authorization record
Before writing code, create a short data-collection specification and send it to Glassdoor for written approval. Be precise enough that the permission cannot be mistaken for a general license.
Include these details
- Identity: your legal entity, product, technical contact, and account or contract identifiers.
- Purpose: the business or research objective and why Glassdoor data is necessary.
- Scope: domains, page types, fields, date range, geography, languages, and the maximum number of records.
- Method: the client, authentication method, request rate, concurrency, schedule, storage, and deletion plan.
- Use and sharing: internal analysis, publication, display, resale, model training, or any onward transfer.
- Safeguards: access controls, retention period, redaction, handling of personal data, and a contact for takedown requests.
Request the approved access method, rate limits, attribution requirements, retention rules, and a process for changes or revocation. A permission that covers viewing but not automated collection, or analysis but not redistribution, is not sufficient for the broader activity.
Keep evidence of the permission
Store the signed agreement or email, the approved specification, and any subsequent change notices with your project records. Build a check that stops collection when the authorization expires, the approved volume is reached, or the target scope changes. If Glassdoor does not approve the request, do not proceed with automated collection.
A compliant workflow after approval
- Confirm the source Glassdoor approved. Use the endpoint, export, or delivery mechanism named in the written authorization. Do not substitute HTML pages or an undocumented interface.
- Implement the stated limits. Enforce the approved requests-per-minute, concurrency, daily quota, and collection window in your client. Treat a 429, block, or challenge as a stop condition, not an invitation to rotate identities.
- Collect only approved fields. Avoid unrelated profile information, contact details, or content outside the agreed page types and date range.
- Log without storing secrets. Record timestamp, source identifier, status, and authorization version. Redact tokens, cookies, and personal data from logs.
- Validate and preserve provenance. Keep the source URL or record identifier, retrieval time, and any transformations so an analyst can distinguish raw authorized data from derived results.
- Apply retention and deletion rules. Delete records, backups, and derived copies when the agreement or your documented schedule requires it.
Code you can safely write before access is granted
Because Glassdoor does not publish a general-purpose scraping API in the reviewed material, there is no approved generic URL or request example to copy here. A responsible client should accept an authorized export or endpoint configuration rather than hard-coding an assumed one. The following Python example processes a JSON file delivered through an approved channel; it does not connect to Glassdoor.
import json
from pathlib import Path
source = Path("authorized_glassdoor_export.json")
records = json.loads(source.read_text(encoding="utf-8"))
for record in records:
# Keep only fields your written authorization permits.
print({
"id": record.get("id"),
"retrieved_at": record.get("retrieved_at"),
"rating": record.get("rating"),
})
Replace the file-processing step only with the delivery mechanism Glassdoor expressly approves. Do not infer parameter names, authentication, pagination, or quotas from another service.
Your own Glassdoor data is a different case
Glassdoor’s security information says users can learn about, access, download, delete, and control personal data that Glassdoor holds about them. Use those user-data controls for your own information and follow the identity-verification steps Glassdoor provides. This route concerns your personal data; it does not grant rights to bulk-export other users’ reviews, salaries, or profiles.

Glassdoor says it uses technology, algorithms, and human moderation to validate reviews and detect potential fraud. It says only users with validated accounts can submit reviews, reviewers must confirm truthfulness and agreement to its terms, and a reviewer is limited to one review per company per year. Glassdoor describes attempts to manipulate systems with bots as “System Cheating.”

Those statements describe Glassdoor’s controls, not a measured detection rate or a guarantee that every entry is accurate. Glassdoor also says it cannot fully confirm every user’s identity, every contribution’s complete truth, or exact employment status. Its Terms of Use disclaim guarantees about the accuracy, currency, suitability, reliability, or quality of information on or linked through the services. Treat reviews and salary figures as user-generated accounts, preserve their dates and context, and cross-check consequential claims with independent evidence.
Common failure modes and the right response
“The page is public, so I can collect it.”
Public visibility is not written permission under the stated terms. Stop and request authorization that covers automated collection.
“My script receives a 403, CAPTCHA, or bot check.”
Do not bypass, solve, rotate around, or disguise the request. These controls are specifically relevant to the terms’ restrictions on circumvention and automated agents. Contact Glassdoor or use an approved delivery channel.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches“A few requests worked, but later requests failed.”
Successful responses do not establish authorization or continued access. Stop at the first limit, error, or challenge and ask the authorized contact whether your method remains within scope.
Rank #4
“I need a larger dataset for research.”
Describe the fields, sample size, retention, publication plans, and safeguards in a written request. If permission is denied, redesign the study around licensed data or public sources whose terms explicitly allow your intended use.
“I only want screenshots.”
A screenshot can still be automated access and can contain personal or copyrighted material. Obtain permission for capture, storage, and reuse before taking batches of screenshots.

For a page you own or are expressly authorized to capture, ScreenshotNeo provides a one-call screenshot API. It accepts a URL and returns PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. Cookie and consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot; bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients.

Decision checklist
- Do you have express written permission from Glassdoor?
- Does it name the exact data, method, rate, purpose, retention, and reuse?
- Are you using only the approved endpoint or export?
- Will your client stop on limits, challenges, or authorization expiry?
- Have you planned redaction, access control, provenance, and deletion?
- Have you checked the current Terms of Use again before launch?
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Glassdoor offer a public scraping API?
The reviewed official pages do not document a public general-purpose scraping API or self-service bulk-data approval route. Ask Glassdoor for an expressly authorized method instead of relying on an undocumented endpoint.
Can I collect reviews for a personal research project?
Not automatically. The same written-permission requirement applies; explain your scope, safeguards, retention, and publication plans and wait for approval.
Can I download another user’s Glassdoor data through my account?
No conclusion like that follows from Glassdoor’s personal-data controls. Those controls concern data Glassdoor holds about you and do not establish bulk-export rights over other users’ content.
The Bottom Line
In 2026, the defensible answer is permission first: obtain Glassdoor’s express written authorization, follow its exact scope, and stop rather than bypassing a control. Without that authorization, do not scrape, strip, mine, or automate collection from Glassdoor.
