Yes. Substack lets you schedule Notes natively on the web, iOS, and Android, so you do not need a third-party scheduler just to publish a Note later. Use Substack’s composer to choose a date and time; the scheduled Note is saved in Drafts, where you can edit it before it goes live. If you also want a shared calendar for other social channels or cross-channel insights, Buffer is one documented option.

How to schedule a Substack Note

Substack’s native scheduler works on web and in its iOS and Android apps. Substack says the selected publishing time uses your local timezone. The steps differ slightly by device:

On the web

  1. Open Substack and select Create → Note.
  2. In the Note composer, select the calendar icon.
  3. Choose the date and time you want the Note to publish, then save.
  4. Select Schedule to confirm.

On iOS or Android

  1. Open the Notes composer in the Substack app.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu and choose Schedule.
  3. Select a date and time, then save.
  4. Choose Schedule to finish.

To review or change a scheduled Note, open Drafts. Substack’s help documentation says scheduled Notes appear there and can be edited before publication. The steps and availability are documented in Substack’s Notes help page and its March 23, 2026 scheduling announcement.

What scheduling a Note does—and does not do

A Note is a short-form post for sharing things such as a post, link, image, quote, or comment with subscribers and the wider Substack network. Notes may appear in the Home feed, on the web, in the app, and on your profile. Scheduling sets a future publication time; it is not the same as scheduling a newsletter issue.

  • Creative Freedom, Anywhere: Lightweight aluminum stylus with natural grip. Includes 6 replaceable tips and 3 color stylus pens. Perfect for sharing with friends, family, or colleagues, this bundle ensures you’re always equipped to capture inspiration.
  • A Note does not send an email to every subscriber. Substack says readers may instead encounter Notes in feeds or receive notifications about missed Notes through roundup digests or push notifications.
  • Native scheduling is for individual Notes. Substack’s reviewed documentation establishes scheduling a Note, but does not establish a recurring queue, bulk scheduling, or a shared cross-platform calendar.
  • You can review performance afterward. Substack’s per-Note stats can include revenue generated, new paid and free subscribers, new followers, clicks, and shares. The help page does not promise that every metric is available for every Note.

See Substack’s Notes help documentation for its description of Notes, distribution, and stats.

Substack’s scheduler or Buffer: which fits your workflow?

Use Substack’s scheduler when you only need to prepare and publish Notes. Buffer is worth considering when you want to coordinate Notes with posts on other connected channels or review cross-channel performance. Buffer announced Substack Notes scheduling on September 23, 2026, and says the feature is available on its free plan; its current support page lists Substack on current plans, including Free. Cost Native scheduling is a Substack feature. Buffer says Substack is available on its current Free plan as well as other current plans; check its plan page for current terms.

Buffer’s feature announcement describes scheduling Notes with text, images, links, and video, as well as crossposting and performance insights. Its support documentation narrows what that means in practice: it does not schedule long-form Substack posts or newsletter issues, and it does not support rich-text formatting. Mentions publish as plain text rather than linked accounts, and a Note can use only one attachment type at a time.

Buffer allows scheduled Notes to be edited before they publish, but says published Notes cannot be edited through Buffer. Check the final text, image, and link before the scheduled time. How to choose and review your workflow

  • Choose Substack if your goal is simply to draft a Note in advance and publish it at a chosen time.
  • Consider Buffer if coordinating Notes with other channels and seeing cross-channel insights would simplify your publishing workflow.
  • Review the Note before it publishes. This is especially important if using Buffer, because the integration cannot edit a Note after publication.
  • Use the relevant platform’s stats to assess outcomes: Substack for per-Note stats, or Buffer Insights for its cross-channel view. Neither source establishes that scheduling itself increases growth or specifies an ideal posting frequency.
