To schedule a text on a Samsung phone, first check which messaging app you’re using: Samsung Messages usually puts the option in a plus or menu control, while Samsung’s documented Android Messages interface schedules a message by long-pressing Send. The controls vary by app and software version, so use the steps for the app that is actually open on your phone.
Schedule a text in Samsung Messages

Open Messages and select the conversation, or start a new one.

Type your message.

Tap the plus or menu control beside the message composer. If you don’t see a plus icon, tap the arrow control to reveal additional options.

Tap Schedule message.

Choose the date and time, then confirm.

Tap Send. In the interface shown in Samsung’s guide, an image appears beside the scheduled message.

Samsung documents this plus/menu flow in its New Zealand scheduling guide and explains the arrow control in its New Zealand text-message support instructions. The order of a few controls may differ between layouts.

Open the conversation and compose your message.

Press and hold Send.

Select a date and time, then confirm the scheduled send.

Check the app name at the top of the messaging screen or in your phone’s app list before following a path. Samsung’s US support page says Samsung Messages is available on Samsung devices running Android 11 or older, and states it will be discontinued on Galaxy devices running Android 12 or newer starting July 6, 2026. That date has passed; if you have newer software, confirm which messaging app is installed and follow its controls. Samsung’s US page also cautions that “Features and functions may vary by device, carrier, and software version.” See Samsung US support for its current guidance.

If “Schedule message” is missing

Check the app. The plus/menu steps apply to Samsung Messages; they may not match Google Messages or another messaging app.

Reveal the composer options. In Samsung Messages, look for the plus icon or tap the arrow that expands additional controls.

Check app and device differences. Samsung warns that features can vary by device, carrier, and software version, and the same scheduling control is not shown in every interface.

Use the app available on your phone. If Samsung Messages is not available, check Samsung’s current recommendation and look for scheduling controls in the replacement app rather than expecting the old menu path.
