For a copy of your Facebook information, use Meta’s Download Your Information tool in Accounts Center. Meta says you can download all your information or choose categories and date ranges, but its published guidance does not establish a universal one-click export for just one album as one ZIP. If you need that specific result, a third-party browser extension may offer it for an album you can already view; treat its features and privacy claims as the developer’s, not as a Meta feature or an independently verified guarantee.
Use Meta’s official tool for a copy of your Facebook information
Meta moved Download Your Information and Access Your Information into Accounts Center. Its announcement says people can request Facebook and Instagram information together or separately. Facebook’s Help Centre says the download can include all categories or selected categories and date ranges, and notes that the controls may be available through Accounts Center or Facebook settings. Menu names and placement can change, so look for Download Your Information in the current settings interface.
- Open Accounts Center. In Facebook, open the settings area and look for Accounts Center. If the layout differs, use Facebook settings to find the download control.
- Choose Download Your Information. Select the Facebook profile and the option to download a copy, rather than transferring a copy to another service.
- Choose the scope. Request all available information or select relevant categories and a date range. Use the narrowest selection that still covers the photos you want.
- Review the request and submit it. Follow the options shown for the export. Meta’s reviewed guidance does not establish a fixed preparation time, so rely on the status and instructions displayed in your account.
- Download and open the prepared archive. Locate the photos in the extracted files, then check that the images you need are present. Folder names and archive contents can vary; do not assume the export creates one ZIP per album.
Meta Engineering described Download Your Information as a way for people to access “a secure copy of the data they have shared with Facebook.” That describes the purpose of the account export, not a guarantee that a particular album will arrive as a separate archive.
Need one album in one ZIP? Consider a third-party extension carefully
Some Chrome Web Store extensions advertise downloading an album as individual files or as one ZIP. For example, the developer listing for Facebook Album Download Kit says it supports albums the signed-in user can already open, offers quality options, and processes downloads in the browser. Those are the developer’s representations; they are not independent security verification or a guarantee of current performance. Another listing, FB Photos Downloader, describes downloading album photos in order and says it is independent of Meta. Do not assume one extension’s features or privacy disclosures apply to another.

Before installing any extension, review its current listing and decide whether the convenience is worth granting its requested access. Check:
- Developer identity and update history: confirm who publishes it and whether it has been maintained recently.
- Permissions: understand what pages or data it can access, and avoid installing it if the requested access seems broader than the task requires.
- Privacy disclosure: read what the developer says it collects, processes, stores, or shares. A claim that processing happens in the browser is still a developer claim.
- Output and limits: confirm whether the current version offers a ZIP, individual files, ordering, or quality choices, and whether those options match your needs.
- Access boundary: use it only for albums your signed-in account can already view. Do not use tools that promise to bypass privacy settings or access controls.
Meta defines scraping as automated collection from a website or interface, distinguishes authorized from unauthorized scraping, and warns that unauthorized scraping may violate its terms and lead to enforcement. A browser extension is not automatically authorized just because it is available in a store; check the tool’s conduct and use it only within your permitted access.

Check the ZIP before relying on it
Neither an export nor an extension should be treated as complete until you inspect the result. Use this checklist:
- Confirm the ZIP opens and the extracted files are accessible.
- Open several images from different parts of the album to check that they are readable.
- Compare the number of downloaded images with the count shown for the intended album, allowing for differences such as items you cannot access or content that is not a photo.
- If the pictures matter, keep a second copy in a separate location. A portable external drive is one option; choose capacity based on the archive size and check that its connector works with your computer.
Download a copy before deleting your account
If you are preparing to permanently delete Facebook, make and inspect a copy first. Meta’s deletion guidance recommends downloading your information and warns that photos and other material added to the account cannot be retrieved after deletion.
