If you reinstall The Case of the Golden Idol on Android, your purchase should return when you install the same edition while signed in to the same Google Account that paid for it. Your game progress is a separate matter: Google Play can restore progress only for games that use its supported autosave system, and no official Playstack statement guarantees cloud-save synchronization for this title.
First identify whether you previously used the Playstack edition or the separate Netflix edition. Then restore the entitlement without deleting any remaining local data, check Google Play Games with the original account, and contact Playstack with your receipt if the unlock or progress is still missing.
Understand what can—and cannot—be restored
There are two different records involved in an Android reinstall:

- Save data: Your completed cases, deductions, settings, and other progress. This may be stored locally or synchronized through a supported game-save service. It does not automatically follow from the purchase record.
Google’s Play Help guidance says that apps bought on Google Play can be used on another Android device without paying again when that device uses the same Google Account. That rule restores access to the paid item; it is not a promise that every game’s progress will be copied. Google Play Games Help likewise says that some games autosave progress when you are signed in to the Play Games mobile app.

For The Case of the Golden Idol, the official Playstack listing does not promise a title-specific cloud-save system. Treat a missing save as potentially local until you have checked the old phone or tablet. Do not uninstall the old copy, clear its storage, or approve a transfer that overwrites its app data while recovery is still possible.
Confirm which Android edition you used
There are two separate Android distributions. An entitlement belongs to its own store listing; installing the other edition is not a purchase restore.

To identify the edition, open Google Play Store, go to your account’s purchase or app history, and locate the exact listing you previously installed. Compare the publisher shown on that page with the app currently on the device. If your old device still works, open its app information or store page and record the publisher before changing anything.
Do not expect a Playstack purchase to unlock the Netflix distribution, or a Netflix subscription to unlock the Playstack distribution. They are different Android packages with different access rules.
Restore a Playstack purchase after reinstalling
Use this sequence when the paid Playstack content is locked after reinstalling or moving to another Android device.
- Find the original Google Account. On the Android device, add or switch to the Google Account that made the purchase. If several accounts are present, check each account’s Google Play order history rather than guessing from the account currently selected in another Google app.
- Open the correct listing. Launch Google Play Store, search for The Case of the Golden Idol, and select the listing published by Playstack. Avoid installing the separate Netflix edition when you are trying to recover a Playstack in-app unlock.
- Install the app. Download the Playstack edition while that purchasing account is active in Google Play. The same-account rule means you should not be charged again for the previously bought Google Play item.
- Launch and wait for verification. Open the game with an internet connection and allow Google Play billing to verify the entitlement. Do not repeatedly buy the unlock while the verification is pending; a second transaction can complicate support and refund handling.
- Check the game content. Confirm whether the previously locked scenarios and bonus cases are available. The Playstack listing describes the paid offer as one purchase unlocking 12 scenarios and 6 bonus cases after the first two playable cases.
- Keep the transaction evidence. If the game still shows the content as locked, retain the Google Play order number and receipt. You will need those details when asking Playstack to investigate.
Billing and transaction problems are handled by the platform provider under Playstack’s terms. That means an incorrect account, a missing Google Play transaction, or a refund question may require Google Play’s account and payments support, while an in-game unlock that exists in your order history but is not recognized should also be reported to Playstack.
If the purchase is still locked
Work through these checks before making another payment.

Check the account selected in Play Store
Open Google Play Store and verify the profile currently active. A device can contain several Google Accounts, and installing while the wrong profile is selected can make a legitimate purchase appear absent. Switch to the account shown on the original receipt, return to the Playstack listing, and relaunch the game.
Check the publisher and package
Search results can show both Android editions. Confirm that the listing says Playstack when restoring a Playstack purchase. If it says Netflix, you are looking at the subscription-based distribution rather than the one-time-unlock edition.
Allow a fresh entitlement check
Launch the game after changing accounts and wait for Google Play to finish its billing check. If the device has just been restored or the Play Store account was changed, close and reopen the game only after the correct account is active. Do not clear the app’s storage as a first troubleshooting step; doing so can remove local progress that has not been synchronized.
Use the order number, not a password
If the unlock remains unavailable, gather the Google Play order number or receipt and contact Playstack. Never send your Google Account password or any other sign-in secret. Include screenshots showing the locked content and the account or listing details that establish which edition you installed.
Try to recover progress without destroying local data
Purchase restoration and save restoration follow different paths. Use the least destructive checks first.
When the old device still has the game
- Leave the old installation intact. Do not uninstall it and do not use Android’s “clear storage” or equivalent reset command.
- Open the game on the old device and note whether your completed cases are still present.
- Check the Google Play Games account associated with the game before signing out or changing accounts.
- Only after you know whether progress is present should you attempt a device transfer or reset.
If progress exists only on the old device, the safest immediate position is to preserve that installation and ask Playstack whether a supported migration is available. The official material does not document a manual save-file export or import procedure, so do not rely on copying an unknown folder or renaming files.
When you have moved to a new Android device
Install the same edition using the original Google Account, then test the account used by Google Play Games. A new device may be signed in to a different Play Games profile even when the Google Play purchase account is correct. Progress will return automatically only if the title uses a compatible autosave system and the original account’s data is available to it.

Check the Play Games indicator
- Open the game’s Google Play listing.
- Look for the “Uses Google Play Games” indicator.
- Open the game’s Achievements or Leaderboards screen and check which Google account is displayed.
- If the displayed account is not the one used on the old device, sign out of the incorrect Play Games account and reopen the game with the previous account.
The indicator is a clue that the game uses Play Games features; it is not proof that every save is synchronized. Google explicitly says that not all games automatically save progress. Because no Playstack statement guarantees cloud saves for this title, a successful purchase restore does not establish that your cases can be recovered from Google’s servers.

Protect the only copy of a missing save
When a save has disappeared, avoid actions that can replace or erase the remaining data.
- Do not uninstall the old app. Uninstalling commonly removes app-local data, and there is no documented title-specific export you can use afterward.
- Do not clear storage or app data. Clearing cache is different from clearing storage, but Android labels vary; if you are unsure, do nothing until support advises you.
- Do not accept an overwrite blindly. A phone-transfer or backup restore may replace newer local data with an older copy. Read which device and date the transfer will use.
- Do not create a second purchase to test saves. A second transaction does not create a backup and can make billing records harder to interpret.
- Do not assume the edition is interchangeable. Installing the Netflix package, or switching from it to Playstack, does not establish that either package can read the other’s data.
Playstack’s terms warn users to maintain an external means to reconstruct lost data. In practical terms, preserve the old device and any existing backup before experimenting with resets, transfers, or account changes.
When a device transfer has already overwritten the app
If you accepted a transfer and the new device now shows an empty game, stop making changes on both devices. Record which device contained the last known progress, the date of the transfer, and whether the old device still opens the game with the correct cases. Then check the Google Play Games account as described above.
If the old device was erased, the app was uninstalled, or its storage was cleared before a cloud save existed, the official sources do not provide a guaranteed recovery route. Do not treat generic Android backup behavior as proof that this game’s saves were included. Contact Playstack with the details of what was erased and ask whether they can identify a supported recovery option.

Changing several variables at once makes it difficult to tell whether the problem is the account, edition, entitlement, or save. A controlled sequence is safer:
- Write down the old device model, the new device model, and the Google Account shown on the original receipt.
- Confirm the publisher in the Play Store listing before installing anything.
- Install only that edition and wait for the first entitlement check to finish.
- Test the game before changing Play Games accounts or accepting any transfer prompt.
- Check Achievements or Leaderboards to identify the Play Games account, then retry with the account used on the old device if necessary.
- Take screenshots of each error or locked screen before clearing data, uninstalling, or resetting a device.
This order separates a store-access problem from a progress problem. It also leaves the old installation untouched for as long as possible, which matters because a local save may be the only surviving copy.

What to do about refunds and duplicate charges
If you paid twice or a transaction is missing, keep every order number and receipt. Do not make another purchase merely to test whether the game can see the first one. Playstack’s terms state that refunds and payment-related in-app-purchase issues must be handled with the platform provider. For a Playstack entitlement that appears in Google Play but remains locked in the game, send the transaction evidence to Playstack as well. Support can then distinguish an account or billing record from an in-game recognition problem.
Contact Playstack with evidence
Playstack lists support@playstack.com for problems and asks users to send details and screenshots. A concise, complete message helps support distinguish a purchase problem from a save problem.

How do I tell whether I have the Playstack or Netflix version?
Open the game’s Google Play listing or your purchase history and check the publisher. The standalone paid edition is published by Playstack and offers the first two cases before a one-time unlock for 12 scenarios and 6 bonus cases. The separate Netflix edition is published by Netflix and requires a Netflix membership.
Is there a restore-purchases button in the Android game?
