For a normal restart, press and hold the Galaxy A10’s Power key, then tap Restart. If the phone is frozen or the screen will not respond, press and hold the Power and Volume Down keys together for more than 7 seconds, then release when the Samsung logo or restart appears.
Restart a responsive Galaxy A10
- Find the Power key on the side of the phone.
- Press and hold the Power key for a few seconds.
- Tap Restart in the power menu.
- Wait for the Samsung logo, followed by the lock screen, before using the phone again.
This is the standard restart described in the Galaxy A10 user manual. It does not erase your photos, apps, messages or other personal data.
Force-restart a frozen or unresponsive A10
Use the button combination when the display is stuck, taps do nothing or the power menu will not open.

- Keep both buttons pressed for more than 7 seconds. Samsung Community guidance describes roughly 10 seconds as a practical indication.
- Release the buttons when the phone restarts or the Samsung logo appears.
- Let the boot process finish without pressing additional controls.
The forced restart uses the phone’s built-in buttons. You do not need a charger, USB cable, computer, app or accessory.

Normal restart vs. forced restart
| Situation | Controls | Timing | What happens to data |
|---|---|---|---|
| Phone responds normally | Power key, then Restart on screen | Hold the key briefly, then tap the command | Personal data is preserved |
| Phone is frozen or unresponsive | Power + Volume Down together | Hold for more than 7 seconds; release at the Samsung logo or restart | A restart is not a factory reset and is not intended to delete data |
If the A10 still will not restart
Try the forced sequence once more
Make sure both keys are pressed simultaneously and held continuously for longer than 7 seconds. Release only after the Samsung logo or a restart is visible, then allow the phone time to boot.
Address recurring freezes
Samsung’s troubleshooting guidance indicates that a hanging device may require closing apps or turning it off and on again. After it starts, close recently used apps and note whether one app repeatedly causes the problem.

Escalate persistent problems
If the phone continues to hang or cannot be restarted, contact a Samsung Service Centre for diagnosis. A factory data reset is a separate, later measure—not another restart—and deletes device data. Make backup copies of important information before considering it.
