To reset your Roku account PIN, sign in at my.roku.com and go to My Account > Profile & Settings > PIN/Parental controls, then select Change PIN. That is the method Roku documents for the account PIN. Roku uses the phrase “Roku PIN” for more than one control, though, so the first step is confirming which PIN you are trying to reset. The table below separates them.
Reset the Roku account PIN
The account PIN is the four-digit PIN that guards certain actions tied to your Roku account. Roku’s support article on creating, changing, or removing the PIN states the reset plainly: “To reset an existing Roku PIN, select Change PIN.” The steps are:
- Go to my.roku.com and sign in to the Roku account associated with your Roku device.
- Open My Account > Profile & Settings > PIN/Parental controls.
- Select Change PIN and follow the prompts on the account page to set a new four-digit PIN.
Roku documents this as a web-account procedure. You do not need your Roku remote, a factory reset, or a replacement device to change the account PIN. If you are not sure whether the menu labels have shifted since this article was written, look for the closest match under the same PIN/Parental controls heading.

Roku separates its PINs by where they are managed and what they control. Use this table to find the right reset route.

If you are unsure, start with the device on which the PIN prompt appears. A prompt on a Roku TV’s settings or Live TV controls points to the TV-based PIN. A prompt tied to buying or adding an app points to the account PIN.
Reset a Roku TV Live TV parental-control PIN
This PIN is separate from the account PIN, and you cannot change it on the Roku website. Roku’s parental-controls article describes the TV route:

- On the Roku TV, open Settings > Parental controls.
- To choose a new PIN, select Change PIN.
- To remove the settings altogether, select Reset parental controls. Roku says this clears the parental-control settings, including that PIN.
Resetting parental controls is more than a PIN change, so use it only if you want to clear every setting on the TV.
Reset a forgotten Kid & Teen Mode PIN

- On the streaming device, select I forgot my PIN.
- Scan the QR code that appears on screen with a phone.
- Reset the PIN at my.roku.com. The same article also says you can visit my.roku.com and navigate to PIN.
What the account PIN covers, and what it does not
The account PIN is optional, and Roku says it is not needed to use the Roku website or mobile app. Its controls apply to actions tied to the Roku account on Roku devices, not to the whole device. Roku states that the account PIN’s parental-control coverage applies to The Roku Channel and Howdy, not to other streaming services, which may have their own parental controls. Do not assume the account PIN locks every app or every device setting.

Being unable to sign in is a different problem from forgetting the PIN. Roku documents password recovery as a separate process that sends a password-reset email. Start with Roku’s guide to changing your password or email for your Roku account. Once you can sign in, return to the account PIN steps above.
