To reset a Samsung VRT washing machine, cut power by unplugging it or switching off its circuit breaker, wait 1–5 minutes, then restore power. This is a power cycle—not a factory reset—and Samsung says there is no general reset function for its washers. It may clear a minor glitch, but it will not fix the underlying fault if an error returns.
Power-cycle the washer safely
- Note any error code first. If the washer is running or displays a code, record it before interrupting power. Clearing a code can remove stored error history that may help with diagnosis; check the code’s instructions when available. Samsung explains this in its washer reset guidance.
- Disconnect power. Unplug the washer if the plug is safely accessible. Otherwise, switch off the circuit breaker supplying the washer. Samsung US recommends leaving it without power for 1–5 minutes. Samsung Canada says to wait about one minute, so follow the guidance for your region and model.
- Restore power and turn on the washer. Check whether the symptom has cleared. This reboot can sometimes resolve a minor glitch, but it is not a guaranteed repair.
What to do if the error or problem returns
Do not keep repeating the power cycle. Use the displayed code or symptom to troubleshoot the cause, and request service if the issue persists. For example, Samsung identifies 4C/4E as a water-fill problem; clearing the code will not correct a water-supply or installation issue. If the washer buttons do not respond
Before assuming the control panel has failed, check whether Child Lock is on, the panel is wet, or the chosen setting is unavailable for the selected cycle. If those checks do not help, Samsung suggests unplugging the washer for 60 seconds. If the controls still do not respond afterward, contact Samsung washer support.

A regular power cycle does not erase Wi-Fi details. Samsung documents a separate network-reset sequence for supported Wi-Fi models: hold Smart Control until “AP” appears (about 3 seconds), hold Temp until “OK” appears (about 7 seconds), wait for the display to return to “AP,” then turn the washer off. This erases network information and is not a universal sequence. Confirm that your washer supports Wi-Fi and follow its manual; Samsung’s regional support instructions describe the network reset.

Check the exact VRT model before using button sequences
VRT and VRT Plus identify a feature, not one specific washer model. Samsung lists WF20T6000AW/AP and WF45T6000AV/A5 as examples of VRT Plus models, but their manuals and support pages are model-specific: WF20T6000AW/AP support and WF45T6000AV/A5 support. Find your washer’s model code and use its official manual before trying any model-dependent button combination.
