To avoid a wasted trip, verify the exact location on the business’s own website, check its regular hours and any notice for your visit date, then cross-check the same branch’s current listing. If the hours conflict—or the business runs by appointment, events, or a variable schedule—contact that location before you leave.
1. Find the page for the exact location
Start on the business’s official website and look for a location finder, branch page, or contact page. For a chain, select the specific branch you plan to visit; a national homepage or another branch’s hours may not apply. Google Search Central notes that location and contact pages commonly provide a business’s address, phone number, and opening hours: Google Search Central.
- Match the address to your intended destination, including street, city, and unit or building where relevant.
- Check that the page identifies the right business and branch, not merely a similarly named location.
- If you need a particular department or service, check its hours separately. Some departments have distinct hours or their own profiles.
2. Check regular hours and exceptions for your date
Read the location’s normal weekly schedule first, then look for a notice that applies to the specific day you plan to go. Holidays, seasonal schedules, events, and temporary closures can change the ordinary timetable. Google Business Profile guidance distinguishes regular customer-facing hours from special hours for particular days and seasonal schedules; special hours are exceptions to the regular schedule.

A regular schedule alone does not establish that the business will be open as usual on a holiday or during a special event.
3. Cross-check the listing for that same branch
Search for the business listing and confirm its address matches the branch you checked on the website. Compare the listed schedule with the branch page, paying particular attention to the visit date: special hours can override regular hours. Google’s guidance describes regular and special hours in its Business Profile API documentation.

Neither an official website nor a third-party listing is guaranteed to be the most current in every case. Treat the comparison as a practical cross-check, not a guarantee.
4. Decide whether ordinary opening hours answer your question
Some businesses do not have useful, simple walk-in hours. A business may be appointment-only, operate on a schedule that varies by activity, or offer different hours for different departments. Google Business Profile guidance specifically recognizes that appointment-only or variable-schedule businesses may not be suited to ordinary hours.

If you need a specific service, ask whether that service is available at the time you plan to arrive—not just whether the building is open. For an event or class, check its schedule and any booking or entry requirements.
5. Contact the location when the answer matters
Call or use the official contact page if the website and listing disagree, the visit is time-sensitive, or the business’s hours depend on appointments, events, or changing activities. Ask about the exact date, branch, and service you need. Recheck close to the visit if plans may have changed. A phone call is a prudent way to resolve uncertainty, but no listing or contact channel guarantees that information is current or that someone will answer.
