You can request an Uber ride from a web browser without using the app. Sign in or create an account, enter your pickup and destination, choose from the ride options shown for your location, then review the quote and confirm. You’ll need account contact details and a payment method; what rides, payment methods, and booking dates are offered depends on location.
What you need to book an Uber ride on the web
- A browser on a computer, tablet, or other supported device. Uber says a ride can be requested from its website or app; the app is not required for the web request. Uber’s online-booking guide
- An Uber account, or the ability to create one, with contact details and a payment method registered.
- The pickup address and destination. Allowing location access is optional; you can type the pickup address instead.
How to request a ride in a browser
- Open Uber’s ride-request page and sign in with the phone number associated with your account. If you’re new to Uber, follow the account-creation steps and provide the requested contact details and payment method.
- Enter your pickup point. You can use location access or type an address manually. Check the map pin and displayed address so the driver is directed to the right entrance or curb.
- Enter your destination address and check that both locations are correct.
- Review the ride options offered for that trip and location. Availability and the details shown can vary, so use the options on the booking screen rather than assuming a particular ride type is offered.
- Review the displayed estimate and trip details. If they look right, confirm the request.
- When the driver arrives, compare the vehicle’s license plate, make and model, and the driver photo with the information shown for your ride before getting in. Uber’s safety guidance
Booking a ride for someone else
Uber’s web guide describes ordering for another person. Enter that rider’s pickup and destination, choose “Order ride for someone else,” then add the rider’s name and phone number as prompted. Uber says an email receipt follows the ride; a receipt can also be downloaded by signing in to the rider account. Check the booking screen’s instructions, since labels and availability may vary.
How the fare estimate and payment work
Uber shows an estimate before you confirm, but the amount charged can depend on the specific trip. Uber lists estimated trip time and distance, route, time of day, and demand among the factors that may affect the price. Tolls, taxes, surcharges, other fees, and possible cancellation or wait-time charges may also apply. Can you schedule an Uber ride in advance?
Uber’s pages give different advance-booking limits: its general guide says rides can be scheduled up to 30 days ahead, while its ride page says Uber Reserve can be booked up to 90 days ahead. These are not a single universal window. Advance booking depends on the feature and location, so check which dates the specific trip’s booking screen actually offers. What to do if the web booking does not match your needs
- If the pickup point is wrong, edit the address or pin before confirming; do not assume browser location access has selected the correct entrance.
- If your preferred ride option is absent, choose only among the options currently displayed for your location, or check another pickup time if that suits your trip.
- If a payment method or advance date is unavailable, follow the alternatives shown in the booking flow. These options can vary by region and trip.
