Start with the game’s official support page, in-game help or feedback menu, or official bug-report forum. Report dialogue as a bug when it unexpectedly repeats, overlaps, skips, or stops progressing; if the lines play as intended but sound awkward or repetitive, use a general feedback channel if the publisher offers one. The exact route and category depend on the game.
First decide whether it is a bug or a feedback issue
Describe a technical problem when dialogue behaves differently from what the game appears to intend: for example, an NPC unexpectedly repeats a line, multiple voice lines play over one another, dialogue skips, or a conversation or quest fails to advance. Record the action and circumstances that bring it on rather than guessing at the cause.
If the dialogue plays normally but its wording or delivery feels unnatural, repetitive, or poorly written, explain the specific line or pattern as feedback. A subjective quality concern is different from a malfunction, even if both involve the same dialogue.

For misspellings, translation problems, text display, or voice-over issues, check whether the publisher has a localization, text, or audio category. Publishers use different labels, and some separate text and audio reports.

Find the right official reporting channel
Look for the game’s support page, in-game help or feedback option, or official bug-report forum. Use the channel the game’s publisher identifies for that kind of issue; a feedback form may not be the same as a support ticket, and not every game offers every route.
These publisher examples illustrate why you should check the instructions for your own game rather than copy another title’s command or form:

- The Elder Scrolls Online: Bethesda Support says PC/Mac players can use a ticket categorized as Feedback / Bug, submit in-game with
/feedbackor/bug, or open Help with F1. The in-game report requests impact, issue category, and description, and includes character and location details. Bethesda says these in-game feedback reports are not sent to its support team and do not receive a response; players seeking help should use/helpor a differently categorized ticket. See Bethesda’s ESO bug-report guidance. - ESO localization: Bethesda directs spelling, translation, and localization issues to its feedback form, with UI for text or user-interface problems and Audio for audio or voice-over problems. It asks for a screenshot for text/UI issues. For audio/voice-over issues, it advises: “If this is an issue with audio/voice overs, please describe when this occurs to the best of your ability.” A video URL may also be included. - Bungie games: Bungie’s Help Forum guide provides separate templates for console/streaming and PC bug reports. They request platform, reproduction steps, actual and expected results, links, and notes; the PC template also requests system information. Bungie encourages relevant screenshots or a clear screen-recorded video and specifies hosts its forum can view. See Bungie’s bug-report templates.
- Battlefield: EA’s Game Info Hub directs bugs to the bug-report forum, technical problems to technical support, and general feedback to discussion. EA distinguishes a bug that needs a patch or update from a technical issue that may be fixed through troubleshooting. It recommends a clear subject and reproduction context, and separate threads for distinct bugs. See EA’s Battlefield bug-report guidance.
- Ubisoft games: Ubisoft Help lists its online support form for account topics and other questions, and Discord for some game issues; it warns that Discord cannot handle account-related support. See Ubisoft Help.
These are title- and publisher-specific examples, not universal instructions. In particular, do not assume a command such as /bug works outside the game for which it is documented.
What to include in your report
Make the report specific enough that someone can understand what you saw and, where possible, try the same sequence. Include only details you observed; do not imply that you tested a restart, reload, or other fix unless you actually did.

- Game and version: Give the title and version or build if you can find it.
- Platform: Name the system you play on, and include relevant system information if the game’s form requests it.
- NPC, quest, and location: Identify the character and where the dialogue occurs.
- Trigger and steps: List the actions that lead to the behavior in order.
- Actual behavior: Say what happened. Quote the repeated line if useful, or describe whether dialogue overlapped, skipped, or failed to advance.
- Expected behavior: Explain what you thought should happen instead.
- Frequency: Say how often you observed it. Mention whether it happened again after a restart or reload only if you already tried that.
- Evidence: Attach a short recording or screenshot only if the chosen channel accepts it. Follow that publisher’s instructions for links or uploads.
Keep the subject direct, such as “NPC dialogue repeats during [quest or location].” A clear subject helps distinguish the report from general feedback.

For a writing-quality concern, replace the malfunction description with the exact line or repeated pattern and explain why it sounds unnatural to you. Keep that judgment separate from a claim that the game is malfunctioning.
Use evidence only in the format the publisher accepts
A short recording can help show timing, overlapping voices, or an unexpected repeat; a screenshot may clarify a text or localization problem. Upload or link evidence only through a route the publisher says it can view. Bungie’s forum guidance, for example, specifies viewable link hosts, while Bethesda’s ESO localization form distinguishes screenshot needs for text/UI from descriptions of when audio issues occur. Evidence requirements vary by channel.
What to expect after submitting
A report or feedback submission does not necessarily create a customer-support case or promise an individual reply. Bethesda explicitly says its ESO in-game feedback reports are not sent to its support team and receive no response. Check the selected channel’s description if you need troubleshooting help or a reply, and choose a support route rather than a feedback-only route when appropriate.
