First decide what “replace” means: a lasting roster edit, a lineup or depth-chart change, or a temporary substitution during a game. Those are different features, and the steps depend on the game, mode, platform, and why the player is unavailable. EA’s official instructions cover specific features in EA SPORTS College Football 26; they do not establish one universal replacement procedure for every college football game or mode.
Choose the kind of replacement you need

Confirm your game and mode before using exact menu instructions. EA’s College Football 26 product page identifies that title, but the feature documentation below is specific to it, not every game in the series.
For a persistent roster edit in College Football 26
EA says College Football 26 includes a dedicated roster-editing tab where users can edit player information and skill ratings. That describes editing player data; it does not establish that an arbitrary created player can be added as a replacement in every mode, or that an injured, suspended, or missing player can always be removed.

EA also notes that redshirting changes only the positions occupied by that player on the depth chart rather than resetting the whole chart. This is a depth-chart effect, not a documented universal replacement tool. See EA’s Dynasty & Team Builder Deep Dive for the feature details.

For an in-game substitution in College Football 26
Use Dynamic Subs when you want to change who is on the field rather than permanently alter the roster. EA’s gameplay instructions describe this sequence during pre-play:
- During pre-play, press Up on the D-pad to open the on-the-fly interface showing who is on the field.
- Press Left or Right to cycle players.
- Select the available player you want to use, following the on-screen prompts for your platform and current game version.
These are game-time substitution controls, not evidence of a permanent roster edit. Consult EA’s College Football 26 Gameplay Deep Dive; button availability and presentation can depend on platform and version.

For an Ultimate Team lineup change
Ultimate Team uses a distinct lineup workflow. EA Help documents these steps:
- Open Lineup.
- Choose the position you want to change.
- Select the current player, then choose another eligible player.
EA also documents moving a player to an eligible position or depth-chart slot; other players shift to fill the resulting available positions. This guidance applies to College Football Ultimate Team, not Dynasty. See Manage your College Ultimate Team lineup.

If the player is injured, suspended, or missing
The right next step depends on the cause and the mode. The official material cited here does not establish a universal way to delete or replace an unavailable player, nor a create-and-add workflow that works in every mode. If the player is present but not starting, look for a lineup or depth-chart adjustment; if you only need a different player for a play, use the mode’s substitution controls. If the player is absent from the roster or unavailable because of a status such as injury, verify what that specific game and mode permit before changing roster data.
For exact button-by-button help, identify the game title, mode, platform, and whether the player is injured, suspended, missing from the roster, or simply not in the starting lineup. Do not treat roster editing, Ultimate Team lineup management, and on-field substitutions as interchangeable.
