On a VIZIO V.I.A. Plus model, you remove YouTube by highlighting it in the My Apps tab, pressing and holding OK, choosing Delete, and confirming. That takes the app off your My Apps list. On SmartCast/VIZIO Home, the equivalent step removes its tile from the home-screen list. On a Google TV interface, the menu may offer a true Uninstall option. These are three different outcomes, so check which one your menu offers before you rely on it.
Find out which interface your TV uses
VIZIO has used several software platforms, and the app menus differ between them. Match your screen to one of these before following steps:
- V.I.A. Plus: the apps screen has a My Apps tab that you can customize by adding, deleting, and moving apps.
- SmartCast / VIZIO Home: the apps are organized under a left-hand navigation menu, with a Homescreen Apps area.
- Google TV interface: the TV runs Google TV, and app management is under Settings > Apps.
If you cannot tell which one you have, find the model number on the TV or in its settings, then open VIZIO Support and download the user manual for that exact model. Manuals are model-specific, and the steps below do not transfer automatically to other platforms.

Remove YouTube on V.I.A. Plus
VIZIO’s V.I.A. Plus user manual documents deleting an app from the My Apps list. Follow these steps with your remote:

- Open the My Apps tab.
- Highlight YouTube.
- Press and hold OK to open the app options.
- Select Delete and press OK.
- In the confirmation dialog, select Delete again and press OK.
The confirmation dialog states that the action “will remove the app from your My Apps list.” The manual describes the result as removal from that list, not as an uninstall. The manual is an older document and applies only to V.I.A. Plus.
Remove YouTube on SmartCast / VIZIO Home
A VIZIO community answer from 2023 describes home-screen organization on newer SmartCast/VIZIO Home interfaces. The steps are:

- Open Apps in the left navigation menu.
- Go to Homescreen Apps.
- Select YouTube.
- Use the remove option, then confirm.
This removes the app’s place on the home-screen list. The community answer does not say that it uninstalls YouTube from the TV. Menu wording may change with firmware updates, so if the labels differ, follow the model-specific manual.

- Open Settings and select Apps.
- Select YouTube.
- Choose Uninstall and confirm, if the option appears.
Use these steps only when your TV shows this Google TV menu. The page does not establish that every VIZIO model offers an uninstall option.

If your goal is simply to stop seeing YouTube on the home screen, the first two methods are enough. If you need the app itself removed from the TV, use the Google TV method only when that menu appears. Otherwise, the sources do not document an uninstall path for your interface.

- Confirm the TV model and interface before following any steps. Model and firmware determine the menu layout.
- Open VIZIO Support and find the user manual for your exact model.
- If the model-specific manual does not show a remove or delete option, the platform may not offer one for that app.
The steps above reflect VIZIO’s documentation and one 2023 community answer, and they may not match every model or firmware version.
