If the white or gray line at the bottom of your Samsung Galaxy screen is the gesture hint, you can hide it on devices running One UI 6.0 by turning off Gesture hint. On One UI 6.1 or later, Samsung says that control is unavailable; you can still use swipe gestures or switch back to navigation buttons. The line’s appearance alone does not prove it is a software indicator.
How do I remove the white bar at the bottom of my Samsung screen?
On a supported Galaxy phone or tablet, open Settings > Display > Navigation bar. Choose Swipe gestures to use gestures instead of the three navigation buttons. If your device runs One UI 6.0, turn off Gesture hint on that screen to hide the lines at the bottom.
Samsung says Gesture hints are not available on devices running One UI 6.1 or later. If you cannot find the setting, search Settings for “Navigation bar”; the exact menus can vary by carrier, software version, and model, as Samsung notes in its Galaxy Navigation bar support guide.

How do I restore the navigation buttons?
If you would rather have visible controls, go to Settings > Display > Navigation bar and select Buttons. Samsung describes the buttons as Recents, Home, and Back. This replaces swipe navigation with familiar on-screen controls, which some people find easier to discover or use.
In some full-screen apps, the navigation bar can temporarily disappear. Samsung says an upward swipe can bring it back. Older regional guidance also documents gesture-hint settings, but menus vary by model and software, so treat those older instructions as version-specific rather than a universal current path: Samsung Electronics Service navigation-bar guidance, dated January 26, 2022.

What if gestures feel harder to use after an update?
If the issue is the size or sensitivity of the gesture area—not the visible line—Samsung describes an optional adjustment for affected devices. Depending on model and software, gesture sensitivity may be available in Navigation bar settings or through Good Lock > Make up > Home Up > Task Changer > Bottom gestures sensitivity. When might the line not be a gesture hint?
If the line remains visible in unrelated screens or appears with other signs of display damage, the gesture-hint instructions may not address the cause. The description “white bar” by itself is not enough to diagnose a screen fault. First check whether it changes when you switch between Buttons and Swipe gestures in Navigation bar settings; if it does not behave like a navigation control, seek device-specific support rather than assuming a setting will remove it.
