To uninstall a sideloaded app from an LG webOS TV, first identify how it was installed. If it was added as a webOS developer package, use LG’s webOS CLI to find its app ID and remove that specific package. If it appears in the TV’s editable app launcher, use the on-screen delete control for your webOS version. A factory reset is not a one-app uninstall: it removes installed apps and account settings.
Choose the removal method that matches how the app was installed
“Sideloaded” can describe different installation routes. A package installed to a TV with LG’s webOS developer CLI is removed by its app ID. An app shown in the launcher may instead be removable through the TV’s app editor. Start with the developer CLI route if you installed the package from a computer; otherwise, check the launcher’s delete controls.
Remove a developer-installed package with the webOS CLI
LG documents commands for listing apps on a target device and removing an app by ID. The ID is a package identifier and may not match the app’s display name.

Make sure the TV is configured as a target device in the webOS CLI and that the CLI can connect to it. In the example below,

List installed apps and find the exact ID for the package you intend to remove:
ares-install --device myTV --list. -
Remove that app by ID, replacing

If you want to check the result, list installed apps again and confirm that the ID is no longer present. Do not guess an ID or remove system components.

See LG’s webOS CLI installation documentation for setup guidance and its CLI user guide for command details. LG’s developer overview describes CLI operations such as installing, retrieving, running, terminating, and removing apps on target devices. LG marks its older TV CLI documentation as deprecated from March 2024 and recommends the newer webOS CLI; use the current documentation rather than relying on older setup instructions. These are documented commands, not steps verified on a physical TV here.

Delete an app from the TV’s launcher
LG’s instructions differ by webOS generation. The labels and layout can also vary by model, so use the procedure that matches your TV and consult its model-specific support information if the controls differ.

Select the X that appears and confirm deletion.
webOS 3.0 and older guidance
For 2016 models, LG Spain’s webOS 3.0 instructions describe entering app edit mode in the launcher and selecting the X if the app allows deletion. LG says the X appears only for apps that can be removed through that editor; if it is absent, that control is not available for the selected app.

The Homebrew project’s Developer Mode guide says a Developer Mode session lasts 1000 hours and that apps installed through Developer Mode are removed when the session expires. Treat expiration as one possible explanation for a missing app, not a rule for every sideloading method. The same guide says that the session can be extended; consult the project’s Developer Mode documentation for its instructions.
Why a factory reset is usually the wrong fix for one app
LG says a reset deletes account settings and installed apps. The reset menu path varies by TV year and webOS version, and the action affects more than the package you meant to uninstall. Use it only when you intend to reset the TV broadly, not as a substitute for removing one developer package by ID or deleting one removable launcher app. LG explains the reset consequences and version-dependent paths in its TV app installation and deletion support guide.
