Remove a saved card through PlayStation Account Management, your PS5 or PS4 settings, or the PlayStation App. The change applies across devices linked to your account—but it does not cancel active subscriptions.
Remove a saved card online
- Sign in to PlayStation Account Management.
- Select Payment Method. Sony’s instructions may show an Add Payment Method control before you choose the saved method.
- Select the card you want to remove, then choose Remove.
Remove a card on PS5
- Open Settings > Users and Accounts > Account > Payment and Subscriptions > Payment Methods.
- Select the saved card, press the options button, and choose Remove.
Remove a card on PS4
- Open PlayStation Store.
- Scroll to the bottom of the sidebar and select Payment Methods.
- Choose the saved card and select Delete.
Remove a card in the PlayStation App
- Select the PlayStation Store icon at the bottom of the app.
- Open the menu in the top right and choose Payment Methods.
- Select the saved card and choose Remove.
What happens after you remove a card?
Sony says payment details removed on one device are deleted from all devices linked to the account. The online, PS5, and app instructions use Remove; the PS4 instructions use Delete.

Subscriptions remain active
Removing a payment method does not cancel active subscriptions. PlayStation Support states: “Removing payment methods will not cancel the active subscriptions on your account.” Cancel a subscription separately if you want to stop recurring charges.
If PlayStation won’t let you remove or update the card
Sony’s US troubleshooting guidance describes a security block that may occur after payment information is updated too often in a short period. For the specific card-update error covered by that guidance, wait 24 hours before trying again. Any attempt during the wait starts another 24-hour block. Sony also suggests using an alternative payment method or a PlayStation Store wallet top-up code during the wait. This is not a general wait time for every payment-removal error; follow the support steps for the error shown on your account.

Payment options vary by region
Available payment methods and screen wording vary by country or region. If the menu labels differ, use the PlayStation support page for your region.
If you still want to buy items after removing the card, Sony documents PlayStation Store gift cards as an optional way to add funds to your wallet. Availability and compatibility depend on your region; a gift card is not needed to remove a saved card.
