You can remap buttons and save controller profiles using the manufacturer’s configuration tools: PS5 Settings or the PlayStation Accessories app for DualSense Edge, and Xbox Accessories for Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2. To switch profiles during play, use Fn plus a face button on DualSense Edge or the Elite Series 2’s physical Profile button.
Remap buttons and create a profile on DualSense Edge for PS5
- From the PS5 home screen, open Settings > Accessories.
- Select DualSense Edge Wireless Controller > Custom Profiles.
- Choose Create Custom Profile, enter a name, then select OK.
- Choose Customize Button Assignments. Select the button you want to change, then choose the function it should perform. Choose Disable if you want that button to send no input.
- Select Apply to save the assignment.
These steps configure the controller itself; a game’s own remapping menu is separate. Sony’s DualSense Edge support guide documents the PS5 route and saving changes with Apply.
Switch DualSense Edge profiles while playing
Hold Fn and press the face button assigned to the profile. Fn + Triangle selects the Default profile; the other three face-button shortcuts can be assigned to custom profiles. This provides a hardware shortcut without returning to Settings. Sony’s support guide explains profile switching and controller setup.
Configure DualSense Edge profiles on a Windows PC
- Connect the controller to the PC and open Sony’s PlayStation Accessories app.
- Select an existing profile or create one. For a new profile, enter a name and assign a shortcut.
- Select a button, choose its new function or Disable, then select Apply after making edits.
- When you have finished setting up the profile, select Done.
PlayStation Accessories can configure button assignments, stick sensitivity and deadzones, trigger deadzones, vibration, and trigger-effect intensity. Trigger effects depend on game support, and Sony notes that trigger-deadzone settings can affect whether an effect works. The controller stores profiles, which remain available when you use it with another computer or mobile device. Remap buttons and save profiles on Xbox Elite Series 2
- Open the Xbox Accessories app on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, or Windows 10/11.
- Select the connected Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2.
- Edit the button mapping and other profile settings in the app, then save the configuration there.
- Use the controller’s physical Profile button to select a saved configuration.
Microsoft documents Xbox Accessories support, button mapping, and profile switching on its Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 product page. App screens can vary, so follow the labels shown in your current version rather than relying on an assumed menu path.
The Elite Series 2 stores up to three custom profiles plus one default profile. Its adjustable thumbstick tension, trigger locks, and interchangeable hardware are separate physical customization options; they are not prerequisites for remapping buttons.

Optional: map keyboard keys to controller buttons
Xbox Accessories also supports assigning keyboard keys to Elite Series 2 buttons on PC and console. Whether those inputs work depends on the game, and keyboard mapping over Bluetooth on PC is unsupported. See Microsoft’s keyboard mapping support page for this optional feature.

Choose controller profiles or a game’s own remapping
Controller-level profiles store assignments and supported controller settings in the manufacturer’s app or on the controller. A game’s remapping menu changes controls within that game instead. If an assignment does not behave as expected, check whether it was made in the intended place and whether the game supports the input feature. For DualSense Edge, trigger-effect support is game dependent; for Xbox keyboard mapping, support depends on the game and Bluetooth keyboard mapping on PC is unsupported.
