You cannot control Gray Zone Warfare’s anti-cheat systems, and MADFINGER does not promise cheater-free sessions. You can make suspected incidents more useful to investigate: save clear video, send a neutral report to MADFINGER Support, and choose PvE rather than PvEvP if you want to avoid player-versus-player encounters. A surprising death alone does not prove cheating.
What to do after a suspected cheating incident
- Separate what you saw from what you suspect. A fast or unexpected kill may have an ordinary explanation. Note the observable behavior and avoid claiming intent unless the evidence supports it.
- Save a useful video clip promptly. Include enough lead-in and aftermath to make the behavior understandable. Keep the original footage; if you add narration or slow motion, retain the unedited clip as well.
- Send the report to MADFINGER Support. The official instructions ask players to contact Support and include video evidence. They do not specify an in-game report button or a response-time guarantee. MADFINGER’s reporting instructions say that if the video exceeds 50 MB, upload it to YouTube as an Unlisted video and include the link in the report.
- Give concise context. Along with the video, include the player identifier if known and approximate match or time context, then describe what the clip shows. This extra context is practical advice, not a stated Support requirement.
MADFINGER’s anti-cheat post specifically asks for “conclusive video evidence” with a report. A neutral description makes it easier to assess the footage than an accusation based only on the outcome of a fight. Read the developer’s anti-cheat statement.
Can you avoid PvP encounters?
MADFINGER’s Update 0.5 announcement describes PvE and PvEvP character modes. PvE is the relevant choice if you want to avoid player-versus-player encounters; it is an exposure choice, not a stronger anti-cheat setting. The announcement describes choosing a mode when transferring existing character progression and says that choice is irreversible. Check the current client and official announcements before acting, since mode rules can change.

Code protection in Update 0.3.0.0
MADFINGER said it integrated Denuvo code obfuscation with the Winds of War update (0.3.0.0) to make the game’s code harder for cheat engines to read and to prevent cheats such as ESP and aimbots. The studio said this was not Denuvo DRM and did not add new kernel-level anti-cheat. It has withheld further technical details so cheat developers cannot readily adapt.

Planned detection improvements in Update 0.4
In a March 18, 2026 devlog, MADFINGER said Update 0.4 would improve wallhack detection and banning and that further improvements were planned. That is the developer’s stated plan, not a measured result showing that cheating fell. Read the devlog.
A reported exploit is not a measure of cheating prevalence
On September 18, 2026, MADFINGER described an item-duplication exploit associated with particular helicopter-death circumstances in Update 0.4. The studio said a hotfix made it no longer replicable, its investigation identified close to 40 deliberate exploiters, and planned measures included temporary suspensions and account wipes. That figure concerns this specific incident; it is not a count of all cheaters, bans, or reports.

What you should expect from a report
MADFINGER has described anti-cheat work and an investigation that led to planned penalties in the specific exploit incident. It does not publish all detection details or promise an outcome for an individual report. The official sources do not establish a game-wide cheating rate or report-success rate, so neither a single incident nor one disclosed investigation can show how common cheating is overall.
