“Reset your Samsung account ID” can mean three different things: find an ID you forgot, reset the password for an ID you know, or change the email address used as your ID. Choose the matching route below. Recovering an ID or password is free and requires only a browser or a Galaxy device and access to any verification method already linked to the account.
First, identify what you need to reset
- You forgot the ID: use Forgot ID or Find your Samsung account ID.
- You know the ID but forgot the password: choose Forgot password and complete an available verification method.
- You can sign in but want a different email address: change the email in your Samsung account profile.
These are separate processes; changing the email is not the same as recovering a forgotten ID. Samsung’s India recovery guide and US sign-in troubleshooting page describe the respective options.
Find a forgotten Samsung account ID
On a Galaxy device
- Open Settings > Samsung account.
- Tap Forgot password or don’t have an account?, then choose Forgot ID.
- Follow the prompts. Depending on your account and region, Samsung may show an email hint or ask you to verify through a registered recovery email address or phone number.
In a browser
Samsung Gulf’s recovery instructions say to open its account recovery page, choose Find your Samsung account ID, and provide the associated phone number or email address. Check for Samsung’s confirmation message and follow its directions.

Reset a forgotten password
- Open Samsung account sign-in or the relevant regional recovery page and select Forgot password.
- Enter your Samsung account ID.
- Choose one of the verification methods Samsung offers for your account, then follow the prompts to set a new password.
Options documented in Samsung’s regional help pages include the primary email, a recovery email or phone number registered beforehand, and a security question configured earlier. Some countries also support using a mobile phone number as an account ID or for password recovery. These choices are not available for every account.
For example, Samsung’s India guide says a phone-based reset may request the account birth date, send a code to the registered number, and then let you create a new password. Recovery-email and security-question routes likewise depend on those methods having been set up in advance.

Change the email address used as your ID
If you can sign in and want to replace the email address on the account, Samsung US documents this browser-based route:

- Sign in to your Samsung account in a browser and complete any verification requested.
- Open Profile > Manage Samsung account > Email ID.
- Enter the new email address and select Change.
- Complete any confirmation or verification Samsung requests.
If the change option does not work, Samsung advises contacting support. Labels and availability may differ by region. See Samsung’s US sign-in guidance.

If two-step verification or lost contact details block sign-in
If you cannot receive a two-step verification code on another device, the sign-in flow may offer alternatives such as a text message or a backup code. Samsung US also describes a route to change the phone number. Which alternatives appear depends on the account and region; start from Samsung account sign-in and follow the recovery choices shown there.
Samsung UK says that if you have lost access to both the email address and phone number used for the account, you need to contact Samsung Customer Support. Contact support as well when the recovery page cannot verify you or your registered contact methods are no longer usable.

What happens to devices and Samsung services?
After a password reset, Samsung’s India and Canada instructions say you may be given a choice to remain signed in or sign out on other devices. Do not assume that every device is automatically signed out. Samsung identifies Samsung Cloud, Samsung Pass, and Samsung Find as services associated with a Samsung account; the cited recovery guidance does not say that account recovery deletes their data.
