You may be able to recover a deleted voicemail on a Samsung Galaxy if your carrier’s voicemail app has a Deleted Items or restore feature, or if the carrier still has a copy. There is no universal Samsung deleted-voicemail folder: first check the app where you deleted the message, then check your carrier voicemail and ask the carrier about the specific message.
Can you recover a deleted voicemail on a Samsung Galaxy?
It depends on the carrier, voicemail app, and what happened to the message. Some apps offer a temporary deleted-items area; others treat deletion as permanent. For example, AT&T documents a Deleted Items folder with restore and permanent-delete options in its Android voicemail guide, while Verizon says deleted messages in its Samsung Visual Voicemail guidance cannot be retrieved. These are carrier-specific rules, not features shared by every Galaxy.
Voicemail can be managed in a carrier-branded Visual Voicemail app, the Samsung Phone app, or a carrier mailbox accessed by calling voicemail. Samsung says voicemail is usually accessed through the Phone app, but app names and setup options vary by carrier. Google also notes that Phone-app visual voicemail is available only with selected carriers and in selected regions, and a carrier app may disable it to avoid a conflict.
Where to look for the deleted voicemail
Check the app where you deleted it
- Open the same app you used to view or delete the voicemail. This may be a carrier-branded Visual Voicemail app or the Phone app.
- Look through the app’s folders and message menu for labels such as Deleted Items, Trash, Archive, Restore, or Undelete. Names and locations differ, so do not assume a particular menu path applies to every Samsung phone.
- If the message appears in a deleted-items folder, use the app’s restore action promptly. AT&T’s Android voicemail guide documents restoring a message from Deleted Items; other carrier apps may not offer this feature.
Check whether it was archived instead
Archive and delete are not necessarily the same. Verizon says archived messages are saved to the phone’s internal storage, while its Samsung Visual Voicemail guidance says deleted messages cannot be retrieved. If you chose Archive, look for an archive folder or saved local copy in the app rather than treating the message as deleted.

Check the carrier voicemail mailbox
Use your carrier’s normal voicemail access route, such as the voicemail option in the Phone app or the carrier’s documented dial-in method. There is no dial code that can be assumed to work for every carrier. Google notes that turning off visual voicemail removes recordings from the Phone app, but the carrier might still retain a copy. Checking the carrier mailbox is worthwhile, but it does not guarantee that the recording remains available.
What to ask your carrier
Contact the carrier as soon as possible and ask: “Does my carrier still have this voicemail in a deleted-message queue or on my account, and can you restore it for my phone and voicemail app?” Tell support approximately when you deleted it, which app you used, and whether you tapped Delete or Archive, or removed or reinstalled the app.

Recovery policies differ. AT&T says the ability to recover deleted visual voicemail varies by smartphone. Verizon’s Samsung Visual Voicemail instructions say deleted messages cannot be retrieved. T-Mobile says messages are automatically deleted after a specified time and cannot be retrieved, and that deleting a message in Visual Voicemail can also delete it from the voicemail system when the app syncs. The reviewed carrier guidance does not establish one retention period that applies to all carriers.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsWill Samsung Cloud, Google backup, or Smart Switch restore the voicemail?
Do not assume so. Samsung’s recovery instructions explain how to restore backed-up text messages, including through Samsung Cloud, Google Messages, or Smart Switch; they do not establish that carrier voicemail audio is included. A general phone backup is therefore not evidence that a deleted voicemail can be recovered. Avoid factory-resetting the phone as a voicemail fix: the cited voicemail guidance does not establish that a reset restores recordings, and resetting may complicate access to current data.

Why recovery results differ
- Carrier and app: Samsung voicemail setup and app options vary by carrier, and Google’s Phone-app visual voicemail is limited to selected carriers and regions.
- Message state: An archived message may be saved locally, while a deleted message may be unrecoverable under the carrier’s rules.
- Restore feature: A Deleted Items folder exists in AT&T’s documented Android app guide, but it is not a universal Android or Samsung feature.
- Carrier retention: Only the carrier can confirm whether a copy remains on your account or in a temporary queue.
