Secure the device first, then recover the account through Roblox’s official reset or Support process, and finally end unwanted logins at Settings > Security > Where you’re logged in. This order prevents a malicious download or extension from immediately capturing the new password and gives you the broadest control over active sessions.
Follow this order after a Roblox account compromise
A hacked account needs two separate fixes: regain control of the sign-in credentials and terminate sessions that may still be open. Do not begin by repeatedly changing the password on a device that may contain malware. Roblox’s safety guidance identifies malicious programs, keyloggers and browser extensions as ways attackers can obtain account information.
- Remove the likely compromise source. Uninstall suspicious off-site downloads and browser extensions, then run a full virus scan.
- Reset the password. Use the official Roblox login recovery flow with the email or phone number attached to the account.
- Use Roblox Support if self-service recovery fails. The first email added to the account or the billing email used for the first payment can help establish original ownership.
- End unwanted sessions. In account security settings, inspect the listed devices and locations, log out suspicious entries, or use the all-other-sessions option.
- Harden the recovered account. Use a unique password, enable 2-Step Verification (2SV), protect backup codes and consider Enhanced Protection if your account meets its requirements.
1. Stop the source of the compromise
Remove suspicious software and extensions
Before entering a replacement password, remove any download, program or browser extension you do not recognize—particularly anything installed shortly before the account was taken over or obtained from an unofficial site. A keylogger or malicious extension can capture the new credentials as quickly as the old ones.

After removing suspicious items, run a full virus scan on the affected device. A quick scan may miss persistent software; use the full-scan option provided by your security software. If the scan identifies a threat, follow the security software’s removal instructions and scan again before signing in.

Keep secrets private during recovery
Only type credentials into Roblox’s own login and support pages. Do not send anyone your password, browser cookies, 2SV security codes, backup codes, personal details or sensitive computer information. Roblox Support states: “Never give out your password, browser cookies, 2SV security codes, backup codes, personal details, or sensitive computer information either.” Someone claiming to be a helper, moderator or recovery service does not need these secrets to assist through the official process.
Use a clean device if necessary
If the scan cannot remove a threat or you cannot identify what changed, use a different device that you trust for the reset and Support contact. The goal is to keep the new password and verification codes away from the suspected capture source. Do not copy browser cookies, saved passwords or extension data from the compromised device to the clean one.
2. Reset the password through Roblox
Use the email currently attached to the account
- Open the Roblox login page.
- Select Forgot Password or Username?
- Choose the email recovery option and enter the email currently associated with the account.
- Use the recovery message Roblox sends to create a new password.
Make the replacement password unique to Roblox. Roblox specifically advises against reusing the old password or a password used on another account. Reusing a password matters because an attacker who obtained it elsewhere may try it again after you regain access.

If no email address is attached but the account has a phone number, choose the Phone option in the same password-recovery flow. Enter the requested phone details and complete the verification Roblox sends. This route depends on the number still being linked to the account and available to you.
When the attacker changed the email
A changed recovery email can prevent the normal reset message from reaching you. Do not guess at an unfamiliar address or ask a third party to “unlock” the account. Move to Roblox Support and be ready to verify that you are the original owner.
Choose the route by the recovery channel you control
The practical decision is not which route sounds fastest; it is which proof you still control. An email reset is appropriate when the current Roblox email remains yours. A phone reset is appropriate when no email is attached but the linked number is available. Support is the route when both self-service channels fail, the attacker replaced them, or the reset message never arrives after you have checked the mailbox.

- The first email address ever added to the account.
- The billing email used for the account’s first payment.
These details can remain useful even if the attacker replaced the current email address. They help Support compare your information with the account’s history, but they do not guarantee that Roblox will restore access.
Prepare a concise, accurate request
Use Roblox’s official Support form and describe that the account was compromised, which recovery channels you can no longer use, and when you first noticed the problem. Include the original email or first-payment billing email if you have it. Answer only the questions Support asks. Do not attach passwords, browser cookies, 2SV codes or backup codes as “proof.”

Keep your information consistent between replies. Guessing dates, inventing transactions or sending several contradictory stories can make ownership review harder. Historical details help Support evaluate a claim; they are not a substitute for the verification process.
What to expect from the support route
Support-led recovery is the correct path when you cannot use the attached email or phone, when the recovery message does not arrive, or when the attacker changed recovery details. Provide accurate ownership information through Roblox’s official support form and follow the verification instructions there. Never include your password, cookies, 2SV codes or backup codes in a support request.

Account recovery is not guaranteed. Verification information can improve the chance of a decision in your favor, but it is not a promise that access will be returned. You do not need to pay a “recovery expert” or buy software to submit the official request; anyone demanding secret codes or an upfront fee is not part of the normal Roblox process.
Choose the recovery route based on the control you still have

4. Remove unauthorized sessions
Open the session-management page
- Sign in to Roblox after securing the device and changing the password.
- Open Settings.
- Select Security.
- Open Where you’re logged in.
The page shows information for active and recently used sessions, including an approximate regional location, device and last-active time. Compare those details with devices and places where you actually use Roblox. A location is approximate, so a nearby or unfamiliar region is a reason to investigate rather than conclusive proof by itself.
How to read the session list
Start with the last-active time, then compare the device type and approximate region with your own activity. A browser session from your home region may be yours even if the device label is generic. Conversely, a recent session from a place you have never visited deserves attention. Treat the list as evidence to review, not as a precise GPS record or a perfect list of every historical login.
Log out one suspicious device
Use the individual logout control beside a session when you want to preserve other trusted devices. This is useful if you recognize your phone, tablet or home computer and want to remove only an unfamiliar browser or location. After logging out the suspicious entry, close any open Roblox tabs on that device if you control it.
Log out everywhere else
For a broader reset, select Log Out of All Other Sessions. Roblox keeps the session you are using active and ends the other listed sessions. You will need to sign in again on your own phones, tablets, consoles or browsers, so choose this option when you prefer certainty over convenience.

Interpret “Unknown” correctly
Some older inactive sessions can show incomplete information or the label Unknown. That label alone does not prove that an attacker is currently signed in. Consider the available last-active time, device and approximate region together. If you cannot distinguish a session confidently, logging out of all other sessions removes the uncertainty while retaining your current session.
5. Secure the account after access is restored
Use a unique password
Keep the new Roblox password separate from every other account. If a password is reused, a compromise at another service can expose Roblox again even after you removed the original sessions. Store the password in a reputable password manager or another secure location rather than in a browser extension you do not trust.

Verify the recovery email
A verified email is required for Roblox’s 2SV setup. Confirm that the email shown in account settings is one you control and that it is secured with its own unique password and available recovery method. If the email itself is compromised, fix that mailbox before relying on it for Roblox verification.
Enable 2-Step Verification
Roblox recommends 2SV as an additional sign-in check. The 2SV setup guidance requires a verified email before you can enable it. Complete email verification first, then choose the 2SV method Roblox presents in your Security settings.
Save the backup codes in a secure place that is separate from the device used to sign in. Losing the primary 2SV method can make recovery more involved; Roblox’s guidance says regaining access after that loss may require two different verification methods. Do not give backup codes to another person or paste them into an unofficial form.
Consider Enhanced Protection when its requirements fit
Enhanced Protection is an optional, more phishing-resistant sign-in mode based on passkeys or hardware security keys. Roblox lists three prerequisites: a passkey, a verified email and a secondary identity-verification method such as a verified phone or backup codes.
A hardware security key, such as a YubiKey security key, can serve as the physical key in a compatible setup. It is an optional hardening measure, not a device that recovers a hacked account. Confirm that your account and platform support the required method before enabling Enhanced Protection, and keep the secondary recovery method available so losing the primary key does not lock you out. No paid product is required for the basic recovery sequence; a security key is an optional post-recovery purchase and its compatibility and account eligibility should be checked first.

If you reused the old Roblox password elsewhere, change those other accounts too. Sign out of Roblox on shared or borrowed devices, remove saved credentials from devices you no longer control, and keep your browser and operating system updated. These steps do not replace Roblox’s session controls, but they reduce the chance that the same password or infected device will reopen the problem.
6. If virtual items or currency disappeared
Do not assume that recovering the login will automatically restore Robux, items or other virtual currency. Roblox does not guarantee recovery of lost items or currency and says assistance may be available only in very limited circumstances.
If you want Roblox to consider help for inventory or currency lost during the compromise, contact Support within 30 days of the compromise. The 30-day period is a stated condition for seeking possible help, not a promise that the items will be restored. Keep the account-recovery request focused on the compromise and provide only information requested through the official support process.
7. Common mistakes that prolong a compromise
- Resetting on an infected device: a keylogger or malicious extension may immediately capture the replacement password.
- Using an unofficial “recovery” service: Roblox does not require a stranger to receive your password, cookies or verification codes.
- Stopping after the password reset: an already-open session can remain until you remove it from Where you’re logged in.
- Logging out only one device without checking the rest: another unauthorized session may still be active.
- Treating “Unknown” as conclusive proof: older sessions can have incomplete data, so weigh all displayed details.
- Waiting on an item claim: Roblox states a 30-day window for contacting Support about possible compromised-account inventory help.
- Storing backup codes with the password: anyone who obtains both can defeat the extra sign-in check.
Troubleshoot the most common recovery problems
The reset email never arrives
- Confirm that you entered the email currently associated with the account.
- Check spam, junk and filtered folders in that mailbox.
- If no email was ever attached, switch to the Phone option if a phone number is linked.
- If the attacker changed the email or neither recovery channel works, use Roblox Support instead of repeatedly submitting guesses.
You can reset the password but still see a suspicious login
First verify that the device used for the reset is free of suspicious downloads and extensions and has completed a full virus scan. Then return to Settings > Security > Where you’re logged in and remove the session individually or choose Log Out of All Other Sessions. Change the password again only after the suspected capture source has been removed.

You are unsure whether “Unknown” is an attacker
Review the session’s last-active time, approximate region and device information. Roblox notes that older inactive sessions may have incomplete data. If the details remain unclear, the all-other-sessions command is the clearest way to end every session except the one you are actively using.
The attacker changed both email and phone details
Self-service recovery depends on control of an attached email or phone. When neither is available, contact Roblox Support and provide the first email added to the account or the billing email used for the first payment if you have it. Those details support an ownership review, but Support may still be unable to recover the account.
You lost access to the 2SV method
Do not send a backup code or security code to anyone who offers to recover the account. Use the recovery options Roblox provides and be prepared to complete two different verification methods if Roblox requires them after the primary 2SV method is lost.
