To reconnect a Shark robot vacuum, connect your phone to your home’s 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, then use the SharkClean app to run the connection setup again. If the robot still appears offline, restart the robot and phone, forget the temporary Shark network in your phone’s Wi-Fi settings, and retry. Use the instructions for your exact robot model before resetting Wi-Fi or holding buttons: Shark’s pairing controls and indicator meanings vary by model.
First check whether the connection loss is temporary
A robot can briefly lose Wi-Fi when it goes under furniture or moves too far from the router. Shark says it may reconnect automatically when it is back within range. If the robot remains offline in SharkClean, work through the checks below rather than immediately resetting it.
Check the network and phone settings
- Use 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. Connect your phone to the home 2.4 GHz network before starting setup. Shark’s cited UK guide says its robots cannot connect to 5 GHz; if your router uses separate network names, select the 2.4 GHz one.
- Check the password and network visibility. Make sure the phone is connected to the intended home network and that the password entered in SharkClean is correct. If the network does not appear, confirm the 2.4 GHz network is visible to the phone and move the robot closer to the router for setup.
- Check restrictions. Turn off a VPN or proxy during setup, check that Wi-Fi isolation is disabled on the router, and allow SharkClean local-network access in your phone’s privacy settings if prompted or applicable.
Shark’s detailed reconnection guidance comes from US and UK materials. If your region’s manual gives different network or setup instructions, follow the manual for your robot’s model and market.

Restart the robot and retry SharkClean setup
- Find the robot’s model number and open its official manual. Follow that manual for how to switch the robot off, how long to wait, and how to restart it; controls and timing differ across models.
- Restart the phone, then turn the robot back on as directed by its manual, with the robot on its base if the manual specifies that.
- In the phone’s Wi-Fi settings, forget the temporary Shark network if it is listed. Do not forget your home network.
- Reconnect the phone to your home 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, open SharkClean, and run the app’s connection process again.
Put the robot into pairing mode only with its model’s instructions
If SharkClean still cannot connect, the robot may need Wi-Fi or pairing mode reset. Do not assume button combinations are interchangeable between Shark models. One Shark guide instructs owners of the models it covers to hold three specified buttons for three seconds; blue Wi-Fi illumination and the spoken prompt “I am ready to connect to Wi-Fi” indicate pairing mode. Use that combination only if it appears in the guide for your exact robot.

Read Wi-Fi lights in the correct model guide
Indicators can help distinguish an incorrect password from a network the robot cannot find, but their meanings are model-specific. In the cited Matrix guide, flashing red Wi-Fi indicates that the robot cannot connect, while separate indicator combinations identify an incorrect password and an undiscovered network. Check the guide matching your model number rather than applying those light patterns to another Shark robot.

- Confirm the phone is on the 2.4 GHz home network, the entered password is correct, and the network is visible to the phone.
- Check that VPN/proxy settings are off and router Wi-Fi isolation is not blocking device communication.
- Repeat the restart and app setup steps using the model’s prescribed power controls and timing.
- Look up the robot’s model number and use its official manual or Shark support page for pairing, reset, and indicator instructions. Shark’s support center provides manuals, troubleshooting material, and connectivity videos.
The cited official materials describe troubleshooting procedures, not a measured reconnection success rate. If the model-specific reset and network checks do not restore the connection, use Shark support for that model rather than assuming the robot needs replacement.
