To get to Ferenia in Metroid Dread, first collect the Grapple Beam in Artaria, return to Dairon, and use the Morph Ball Launcher. From its landing point, head north, clear the grapple block, and take the region connection to Ferenia.
What you need before leaving Artaria
The standard progression route is Artaria → Dairon → Ferenia. The Grapple Beam, acquired in Artaria, is the key requirement: it lets Samus pull grapple blocks, reach grapple swing points, and latch onto magnetic surfaces along the route.

How to get from Artaria to Ferenia
-
Return through Artaria
From the Grapple Beam item room, backtrack along the route you used to reach it. Pull the grapple block out of the way with the Grapple Beam, then use the newly accessible magnetic wall or pad to continue toward the teleporter to Dairon.

Activate the Morph Ball Launcher in Dairon
In the launcher room, use the Grapple Beam to remove the block obstructing the entrance. Enter the tunnel in Morph Ball form and drop a bomb to activate the launcher.

Head north from the landing point
After the launcher sends you onward, continue north. Pull away the grapple block blocking the way, then take the region connection to Ferenia.
What to expect on your first visit
Ferenia’s opening route uses grapple swing points and blue grappleable walls. You will also need to use Flash Shift to cross pressure plates before entering the E.M.M.I. zone. A story scene and a Robot Chozo Soldier fight follow during the first visit. Against the soldier, jump and Flash Shift to avoid its close-range arm attacks; use missiles or charged shots when you have an opening, and dodge its beams. The route continues back toward Dairon after the encounter.
Nintendo describes Ferenia as a former sanctuary for Chozo rituals, and the game’s progression sends Samus back through ZDR’s regions as exploration opens new routes. See Nintendo’s Metroid Dread Report, vol. 8.

If you cannot find the route
- Confirm the prerequisite: Check that you collected the Grapple Beam in Artaria. Without it, you cannot clear the grapple blocks or use the grapple route described here.
- Check your region and direction: The connection to Ferenia is reached from Dairon, after the Morph Ball Launcher—not directly from the Grapple Beam item room.
- Use the map to identify landmarks: If a marker does not match the room layout, confirm your current region on the in-game map and look for the launcher room and the northbound route from its landing point. Screenshots in Thonky’s Ferenia walkthrough and Nintendo Life’s guide to where to go after getting the Grapple Beam can help identify those connections.
These directions cover the standard progression route; they do not describe sequence-breaking or speedrun routes.
