To put Samsung Galaxy Buds in Bluetooth pairing mode, use the control for your model: newer Buds use a button on the charging case, while some older models require holding both earbuds’ touch surfaces. Then open Bluetooth settings on the phone, computer, TV, or other device and select the Buds from its available-device list.
Choose the pairing steps for your Galaxy Buds model
Find your model name before starting: button placement and pairing gestures differ across generations. Samsung’s Hong Kong laptop guide, updated May 13, 2026, cautions that instructions may vary by product location and purchase region. Its model-specific steps are:
- Galaxy Buds4 or Buds4 Pro: Put both earbuds in the case and open it. Hold the Connect button on the back of the case for more than three seconds. Repeated blue, red, and green status-light flashes indicate pairing mode.
- Galaxy Buds3 or Buds3 Pro: Put both earbuds in the open case. Hold the Connect button on the bottom of the case for more than three seconds. Repeated blue, red, and green flashes indicate pairing mode.
- Galaxy Buds2 or Buds2 Pro: Put both earbuds in the open case. Touch and hold both earbuds simultaneously for more than three seconds. Repeated blue, red, and green flashes indicate pairing mode.
- Galaxy Buds, Buds+, Buds Live, or Buds Pro: Wear both earbuds and touch and hold both touchpads at the same time for more than three seconds. An audible sound indicates pairing mode.

Pairing mode makes the earbuds discoverable; it does not finish the connection by itself. Keep the target device’s Bluetooth settings open and choose the Galaxy Buds when they appear. On a compatible Samsung phone, opening the case may start pairing automatically. With other devices, select the Buds from the Bluetooth list.

Windows laptop
- Turn on Bluetooth.
- Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Add device.
- Choose Bluetooth, select your Galaxy Buds from the available-device list, then select Connect.
Samsung notes that menu names, paths, and screen layouts can vary with the device model, software version, or app version.
TV, PC, or another Bluetooth device
Enable Bluetooth in the target device’s settings, put the Buds in pairing mode using the model-specific steps above, and select them when they appear among connectable devices. A device may ask you to connect each earbud individually. Whether a connection works depends on the device’s Bluetooth capability, operating system, software, and surrounding environment. If the Galaxy Buds do not appear
- Check that you are using the gesture for the exact Buds model and look for its pairing cue: flashing status lights or an audible sound, depending on the model.
- Leave the target device’s Bluetooth screen open while the Buds are discoverable, then select them as soon as they appear.
- If pairing does not start or the earbuds are no longer visible, close and reopen the case and try again. Samsung UK says earbuds that have not paired within three minutes of the case being opened stop actively pairing; close and reopen the case to restart the process.

Replacement-earbud coupling is a different process
If you are connecting a complete pair of Buds to a phone or computer, use the normal pairing steps above. Do not use replacement-earbud coupling: that procedure is for making a replacement earbud work with its partner, not for making the pair discoverable to a device.

For that separate US support procedure, Samsung says to place both earbuds in the case, leave the lid open, and hold the Connect button for seven seconds until the battery indicator flashes; then connect the earbuds to a mobile device. For Buds4, blue indicator flashes that turn off indicate successful coupling, while red flashes mean the earbuds are not coupled correctly and the step should be repeated.
