To show a Google Slides presentation full screen on a computer, open it and select Slideshow in the upper-right corner. Use the arrow keys or on-screen arrows to move between slides, and press Esc to exit. If you need speaker notes or presenter controls, choose Presenter view from the arrow beside Slideshow instead.

Open your presentation in Google Slides. Google recommends Chrome for the best results.

Select Slideshow at the top right to start the audience presentation.

Move forward or backward with the keyboard arrow keys or the on-screen arrows.

Press Esc when you want to leave full-screen mode.
For additional desktop presentation options, select the arrow beside Slideshow. Google documents controls for choosing slides from a list, opening Presenter view, using a laser pointer, printing, downloading as PDF or PPTX, and setting automatic slide advance. Reset automatic-advance options each time you present. With multiple displays, use display options to choose the presentation monitor; Chrome may ask permission to use multi-display support. Google’s computer presentation instructions cover these controls.
Show speaker notes and presenter controls
Select the arrow beside Slideshow, choose Presenter view, then open Speaker notes. The notes are for the presenter, not the audience. Google Docs Editors Help explains: “A presentation doesn’t display speaker notes, but it’s available to the presenter.”
Presenter view and a full-screen audience presentation cannot be used at the same time on a single monitor. If you need to see notes while your audience sees the slides full screen, use a second display and select it from the display options.

Useful keyboard shortcuts
Google lists these desktop shortcuts for controlling a presentation:
- Esc: Stop presenting.
- Arrow keys: Move between slides.
- Slide number, then Enter: Jump to a slide.
- Home: Go to the first slide.
- End: Go to the last slide.
- s: Open speaker notes.
- a: Open audience tools.
Some shortcut behavior depends on the operating system; check Google’s computer help page for the relevant platform.

In the Presenter view window, open Audience tools.

Select Start new or Continue recent.
Viewers can use the Q&A link to submit questions and vote. You can display a selected question or hide it. For work, school, or other managed accounts, the organization may control who can submit questions. See Google’s audience questions instructions.

Open the presentation in the Slides app, tap Present, then Present on this device. Swipe left or right to move through slides. Google also documents casting to Chromecast when the phone and Chromecast are on the same Wi-Fi network, and presenting to Google Meet. Follow Google’s Android instructions for the available options.
iPhone or iPad
Open the presentation in the Slides app, tap Present, then Present on this device. Swipe to change slides. Google also documents Chromecast, Google Meet, and AirPlay mirroring to an available receiver. See Google’s iPhone and iPad instructions.

Open the presentation’s More options menu.

Select Captions preferences to turn captions on or off.
If you share the Slides presentation through meeting software such as Meet, the captions can appear on the shared screen. They caption the speaker’s voice, not other meeting audio. The microphone and caption display may turn off after 30 minutes without computer activity. An organization administrator may disable captions. Google cautions that results depend on audio input, including accent, voice modulation, and intonation, so captions may not be complete or accurate. See Google’s captions help page.
Choose the presentation path that fits
- Audience sees only the slides: Use Slideshow on a computer or Present on this device in the mobile app.
- You need notes and presenter tools: Use Presenter view on a computer. For a simultaneous full-screen audience display, use a second monitor.
- Your audience is watching on a TV: Google documents Chromecast for Android and iPhone or iPad, plus AirPlay mirroring for iPhone or iPad.
- Your audience is joining a video call: Google documents presenting to Meet from Android and iPhone or iPad.
For screen-reader use, Google provides keyboard navigation guidance for starting and controlling a slideshow; speaker notes remain presenter-only. See Google’s screen-reader help.
