For reliable xTool O1 Omni Dual UV prints, prepare the artwork in xTool Studio, identify the exact material and surface finish, clean the print area, and use the matching primer when xTool calls for one. Let the surface dry before printing, add a white ink base for transparent materials, and leave a direct print at room temperature for at least 30 minutes before scratching or washing it.
Confirm the printer and print route
Check the O1 Omni configuration before preparing a job. xTool lists three printhead configurations: Single UV, Dual UV, and UV & DT. Dual UV has two UV heads and supports rigid and flexible materials such as acrylic, leather, wood, and canvas. Single UV is listed for rigid materials. UV & DT combines a UV head with a fabric-printing head. The official O1 Omni manual and specifications list a device resolution of 720×1440 dpi; this is not a recommended artwork-file resolution.
Direct UV or UV DTF?
Direct UV printing places ink on the object and cures it during printing. UV DTF instead prints the design onto transfer film, laminates it, and applies it like a decal to a compatible hard surface. xTool’s UV DTF workflow uses A and B film together and lists the LM1 laminator for lamination. Direct printing avoids a transfer step on suitable surfaces; film transfer may be more practical for awkward shapes.
xTool recommends its OR1 rotary for regular cylinders. For objects with handles, complex curves, or large height changes, its guide identifies UV DTF as the better first option. For UV DTF, follow the separate xTool O1 UV DTF instructions rather than applying direct-print setup steps automatically.

Do not treat all fabric as the same workflow
The O1 materials guide maps direct fabric printing to the UV & DT configuration and excludes fabric from the Single UV and Dual UV direct-print matrix. Dual UV supports certain flexible materials, including leather and canvas, but that does not establish it as a workflow for wearable apparel. Check the exact material and intended use against the O1 materials compatibility guide.

Choose export format for the result you need
The Studio export guide documents PNG, JPG, and SVG. PNG and JPG are raster exports, while SVG is a vector export. JPG uses a white background, so it does not preserve transparent pixels. If the design needs transparency, do not assume a JPG export will retain it. xTool’s Studio export guide explains the available formats.

The reviewed xTool guidance does not establish one minimum pixel dimension, color profile, or DPI requirement for every O1 Dual UV job. Use the artwork settings appropriate to the design and mode in Studio; do not infer an artwork requirement from the printer’s 720×1440 dpi specification. Texture and relief workflows may have different requirements: xTool’s acrylic-board tutorial, for example, calls for an .xs processing file.

| Substrate or finish | xTool preparation guidance |
|---|---|
| Glass, glossy or glazed ceramic, crystal | Use glass and ceramic primer. |
| Aluminum, anodized aluminum, stainless steel, iron, copper, zinc alloy | Use metal primer. |
| Acrylic and glossy ABS | Use acrylic primer. |
| Solid wood, bamboo, paper, leather, canvas/cotton/linen, matte ceramic | Clean and print directly; this guide does not specify a primer. |
| Silicone, soft TPU/TPE, non-stick coatings, spray-painted surfaces, some special coatings | A dedicated primer may be needed. |
| Spray-coated, plated, baked-finish parts, composites, or other uncertain surfaces | Test a small batch first. |
For drinkware, match the primer to the body material rather than choosing one based on the object’s use. Check the full xTool O1 primer guide and the O1 materials matrix for the exact surface and printer edition.
Recommended Free Tools
Prepare a direct UV print step by step
- Clean the print area. Wipe in one direction with an alcohol-dampened lint-free cloth to remove grease, fingerprints, or anti-rust oil. Wait for the alcohol to evaporate fully.
- Keep the surface clean and protect yourself. Avoid touching the prepared area with bare fingers. xTool lists disposable gloves for preparation and recommends rubber or plastic gloves and safety goggles when handling UV ink.
- Apply the matching primer only when called for. Where the primer wipe is used, handle it with tweezers. Apply a thin, even coat over the print area, extending the primed area 1–2 mm beyond the artwork. Avoid flooding or streaking the surface.
- Let the primer dry. Wait until it is surface-dry and no longer tacky. xTool advises printing as soon as possible after application.
- Place and align the object. Set it steadily on the print station, complete height measurement and design alignment, and select the print mode appropriate to the material.
- Set a white base if needed. Transparent substrates need a white ink base; without it, xTool says the result may look gray. White ink can also improve how a design reads on dark or colored materials.
- Rest the finished print. Leave it at room temperature for at least 30 minutes before scratching or washing it.
These preparation and rest instructions come from xTool’s primer guide. For UV ink handling, also follow the xTool UV ink safety guidance and the instructions for the specific ink, primer, printer, and accessory.

Use UV DTF when a direct print is impractical
For an object that is difficult to print directly, UV DTF can transfer artwork from film to a compatible hard surface. xTool’s documented process is:
- Prepare the artwork, choose Flat mode, and set the parameters for the job.
- Load A film with its adhesive side facing up, scan, and print.
- Laminate film A with film B using a laminator.
- Cut and apply the decal to a clean receiving surface. Squeegee from the center outward, then peel the carrier slowly at a low angle.
For transparent objects, xTool recommends Color + White + Color ink mode so the design reads from either side. Varnish layers can add gloss or scratch resistance, but additional layers increase print time. These are UV DTF-specific directions in the O1 UV DTF guide, not universal settings for direct printing.
Troubleshoot common adhesion and appearance problems
xTool’s primer guide associates certain symptoms with likely preparation issues. These are troubleshooting explanations, not exhaustive diagnoses:
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- The print peels off completely: the surface may not have been cleaned properly, or the primer may be missing or incorrect.
- Edges lift: the primed area may not extend far enough beyond the artwork.
- A whitish haze appears: too much primer, printing before the primer dries, or high humidity may be factors.
If a surface has an unfamiliar coating or finish, test a small batch before committing to a larger run. Results on one brand or finish do not establish compatibility with every similar object.
Check safety and intended use
xTool says UV-printed areas are not intended for direct contact with food or beverages. Keep prints off areas that contact food or drink, including drinkware interiors and drinking surfaces. Use protective gloves and safety goggles when handling UV ink, and follow the specific safety directions for the materials and equipment in use. See the xTool O1 FAQ and UV ink safety guidance.
