Zone of the Enders: The Fist of Mars is a Game Boy Advance game, so the practical way to play it on a modern PC is with a GBA emulator such as mGBA and a legally obtained game image. The sources available do not establish a native PC release or confirm title-specific compatibility. Konami’s PC game, Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner – M∀RS, is a different game.
Play it on PC with a GBA emulator
The Fist of Mars was released for Game Boy Advance. Its platform and release dates—September 27, 2001, in Japan; February 26, 2002, in North America; and June 7, 2002, in Europe—are listed by the community-edited reference record. Because it is a GBA title, emulation is the relevant PC route.

Install mGBA
- Visit the official mGBA project site and download the release for your operating system. The project describes mGBA as an open-source Game Boy Advance emulator.
- Install or extract the downloaded package according to the instructions for your operating system, then start mGBA.
- Open a legally obtained copy of the game in the emulator. The project’s general GBA support does not by itself establish that this particular game has been tested or works perfectly.
- Configure keyboard or controller input using the emulator’s controls settings, then use the emulator’s save feature as you play. Exact menu labels, a recommended control mapping, and title-specific setup steps are not established here.
The mGBA home page listed version 0.10.5, released March 8, 2025, as its latest release in the available project information. Check the project site for the current release and operating-system downloads before installing, since versions can change.

Know which Zone of the Enders game is on PC
Konami’s official PC/Steam listing is for Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner – M∀RS, an enhanced version of a separate action game—not a PC port of the GBA tactical RPG The Fist of Mars. Finding M∀RS in a PC storefront therefore does not mean you have found The Fist of Mars.
Konami’s support information says the Steam PC version of The 2nd Runner – M∀RS needs an online connection for its first launch and can then be played offline. That requirement applies only to that separate PC game.
Choose between emulation and original hardware
| Option | What you need | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| PC emulation | A PC, a GBA emulator such as mGBA, and a legally obtained game image. | Lets you play through an emulator; exact-game compatibility and performance have not been established here. |
| Original hardware | A GBA-compatible system and a copy of the cartridge. | Uses the original handheld platform. Current availability, cartridge condition and authenticity, and prices have not been verified. |
Using an emulator does not settle whether making or using a copy of a game is lawful where you live. Copyright and copying rules vary by jurisdiction; check the rules that apply to you rather than assuming that owning a cartridge automatically resolves them.

What kind of game to expect
The reference record describes The Fist of Mars as a single-player, turn-based tactical role-playing game centered on mecha combat. Its 26 episodes generally pair story scenes with missions; between missions, players can purchase or upgrade equipment and save progress. These are GBA-game details, not evidence of a specific PC version or a tested emulator setup.
