To play the original arcade versions of Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, Mortal Kombat 3, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 on current hardware, the direct option is Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection. Atari links to versions for Xbox, Steam, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch; the PlayStation Store lists PS4 and PS5. Choose the arcade versions in the collection if you want the original arcade releases rather than the included home and handheld versions.
Which collection has the original arcade games?
Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection is the modern release to look for. Its arcade lineup includes all four games often meant by the “original trilogy”: Mortal Kombat (1992), Mortal Kombat II (1993), Mortal Kombat 3 (1995), and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (1995). Digital Eclipse’s announcement also lists selected console and handheld editions of these games, plus other series releases.
Atari’s collection page links to Xbox, Steam, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch storefronts. For PlayStation, the store listing names PS4 and PS5. Store availability and edition options can vary by platform and region, so follow the link for the platform you own and check its live listing before buying.

How to get started on your platform
- Open Atari’s Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection page and select your platform’s store link, or search for the full collection name in that store.
- Check the listing for your console or PC, region, and preferred edition. Atari describes physical as well as digital editions; the PlayStation Store listing covers PS4 and PS5.
- Install the collection, launch it, and select the arcade version of the game you want. The collection also includes some original home and handheld versions, so check the version label when choosing.
The PlayStation Store lists October 30, 2025 as the release date. Its US listing showed $49.99 when checked on October 4, 2026; that is a listing-specific price, not a guaranteed price for another region, edition, or retailer.

The PS Plus requirement is specific to PlayStation; check the relevant platform’s store listing for its own online-service terms.

Valve’s February 2, 2012 announcement says the older Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection included Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. It is a historical launch notice, not confirmation that the game is currently for sale or compatible with current Windows systems. Check the live Steam listing before relying on it. For a current route, Atari links to a Steam store option for Legacy Kollection.
Rank #3
- Arcade-Favorite Games: 3 Mortal Kombat arcade titles ship on this cabinet, Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat II among them, so the ladder, the hidden fighters and the finishing moves live on the countertop
- Real-Feel Joystick and Buttons: Full-size arcade controls sit under your hand the way the original cabinets did, which is the point of buying an arcade machine instead of playing arcade games on a phone
- 7" Full-Color LCD: A 7 inch full-colour screen keeps the sprites sharp and the frame rate smooth, and the viewing angle suits a table top or a bar top where you stand over it rather than sit
- Portable with a Built-In Handle: A top-mounted carry handle and a countertop footprint mean it moves between a desk, a shelf and a game room unaided, far smaller than full size arcade machines
- Multiple Power Options: Run it on 4 AA batteries, not included, or plug in a Micro-USB cable, and it arrives fully assembled with nothing to build, among the easier gifts for a retro gaming household
What is not established about fidelity and performance?
The official pages identify the included game versions and advertised features, but they do not compare arcade emulation accuracy, input latency, image quality, or performance across platforms. The version list confirms that arcade editions are included; it does not by itself establish that they reproduce original arcade hardware behavior in every respect.
