To play a Sega Genesis racing game on a modern device, first check whether that exact title is included in the collection you plan to use. SEGA’s official Genesis Mini manual index lists Road Rash II, making the Genesis Mini a documented plug-and-play option for that game. Nintendo Switch owners can use the Genesis app with Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, but the U.S. catalog reviewed here does not show a clear racing title.

Playing Road Rash II on a modern TV

Do you need the Genesis Control Pad?
No. The dedicated Genesis Control Pad is optional; it is an accessory, not a requirement to access the app. Nintendo describes it as designed for the Genesis library and says compatibility with other Switch software is not guaranteed. The U.S./Canada support FAQ describes a wireless, USB-C rechargeable controller and lists $49.99 USD and $69.99 CAD. Those are FAQ prices, not guarantees of current price or stock. Nintendo says a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership is sufficient to buy the controller where eligible; the Expansion Pack is required for the game library.
