Kill Order is a 6v6 respawn mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Each team has five standard Operators and one High Value Target (HVT) at a time. Earn points by eliminating opponents, protect your HVT, and target the other team’s HVT. In public matches, the first team to 125 points wins, according to Activision’s October 23, 2024 guide.
What is the objective in Kill Order?
Your team scores by getting eliminations, with extra points for eliminating the opposing HVT. At the same time, keep your own HVT alive: the enemy team receives a large score reward for taking them out. Both teams’ HVTs are marked on the HUD, so their locations are visible during the match.

All players respawn. When an HVT is eliminated, a new Operator takes over after a short delay rather than immediately. During that transition, remaining attackers may still complete an attack or earn score.

How Kill Order scoring works
Activision’s 2024 public-match guide lists these Team Score values:

The final blow on an HVT determines which team receives the five Team Score points. Players who participate in the elimination can still earn Match Score.
Surviving as the HVT does not add Match Score by itself. It does deny the opponents the five-point HVT elimination, and Activision says HVT survival contributes to personal score and team contribution for XP-related purposes. The public-match target is 125 points.

How to play your role
If you are the HVT
- Stay near teammates instead of roaming alone; they can help protect you while earning ordinary elimination points.
- Choose hard cover and avoid positions with many chokepoints. A defensible position can let teammates move out to attack.
- Balance aggression with the risk of being the priority target. Your eliminations are worth two points each, but an enemy HVT elimination is worth five.
If you are a standard Operator
- Coordinate with teammates and assign or rotate roles so the HVT is not left undefended.
- Decide whether to reinforce your HVT or pressure the enemy HVT based on the immediate threat. Defending is important, but leaving every teammate back can surrender opportunities to score.
- Take a clear opportunity to finish the enemy HVT: the five-point award can outweigh one or two ordinary team deaths.
How Face Off Kill Order differs
Face Off Kill Order keeps the 6v6 HVT objective but moves it to small Strike maps and disables Scorestreaks. Activision notes that the smaller spaces make protecting the HVT more difficult. The distinction is useful when choosing how to approach the mode: expect less room to keep the target at a distance and no Scorestreaks in this variant. See Activision’s Face Off guide.
