Barrage rewards players who use cover and choose their crossings carefully. The roads make it quick to move between landmarks, but they leave you exposed to elevated fire from the Watchtower and Command Center. Learn the map’s covered routes, watch the approaches into Crater, and use damaged buildings to change angles.
What is Barrage?
Barrage is a Black Ops 6 multiplayer map set at Summit Watch in 1968 Vietnam. A huge tree crusher has flattened parts of the landscape, and battle damage has opened routes through buildings. Activision’s map guide, published April 3, 2025, identifies the map as part of Season 03; that label does not establish its current playlist availability. Activision’s Barrage map guide

How to read the map’s main landmarks
Entrance
Entrance is a named spawn area in the north. Mossy rock, vehicles, and the Tree Crusher provide nearby cover. Gate and Storage offer ways into camp, while the Watchtower overlooks Crater and Hill. Before moving toward the center, account for that elevated view.
Crater
Crater is a dangerous central route because two elevated positions can cover it: an opening in the wall near the Watchtower and the second floor of Command Center. Water tower and Barracks provide nearby cover, but crossing the open center can expose you to both angles.

Hill
Hill runs from Entrance, past the back of Barracks, toward Overlook. Its natural cover and fewer intersecting routes make it useful when you want a more defensible approach or a place to build toward a Scorestreak. The Watchtower can help you challenge the middle before you move back along the wing.
Gun Pit
The Lower Gun Pit is exposed to fire from Depot and the lower Command Center. Its partly covered boundary and steps lead to the Upper Gun Pit. A shipping container gives a view toward Overlook and the Comms building, but using that sightline means committing to a position opponents may anticipate.
Overlook
The Comms building can help you defend Overlook or avoid an enemy aerial Scorestreak. The area connects to a raised platform and to a blasted corner of Command Center, where debris forms a ramp into the building. Obstacles toward the Gun Pits can provide cover as you reposition.

How to move without giving away easy shots
Cross roads with a plan
Interconnected roads make rotations fast, but crossing them leaves you vulnerable. Check the minimap and nearby angles before stepping out, especially around the central lanes overlooked by the Watchtower and Command Center. Avoid treating a quick route as a safe one.
Use the Tree Crusher to change sides
The Tree Crusher offers substantial cover but has several approach angles. Activision recommends using the dirt on its south side to attack passing enemies from below, and crouching under the machine to switch sides without exposing your position.
Expect company through damaged buildings
Openings in Barracks, Command Center, and Comms serve as alternate entry and exit routes. They can help you flank or escape, but opponents can use the same gaps; check them when holding a room and when entering one.

Hold Command Center only if you can manage its angles
Command Center overlooks Crater and Overlook and can pivot toward the Gun Pits, making it a high-value position. That visibility comes with a cost: it attracts attention from several directions. Keep track of the openings and avoid assuming that control of one room means control of the surrounding lanes.

Use eliminations to anticipate a flank
The map guide suggests Hunter’s Instinct, which reveals the direction of the next closest enemy after an elimination. On a compact map, that cue can help you notice a nearby approach before moving on.

Activision’s guide says all weapon classes can work and specifically points to Marksman Rifles for the map’s mid-range sightlines and longer views along roads. Treat that as the guide’s recommendation, not a tested ranking or a statement about the current competitive meta.

These are loadout concepts from Activision’s April 3, 2025 guide, not personal test results. Weapon balance, equipment names, perks, and tuning can change; check the current game before building around them. The official Black Ops 6 guide index lists Barrage as a Core Season 03 map, but does not confirm current playlist rotation.
How should you approach objectives?
Choose your route based on the objective and the threats around it rather than assuming a particular Barrage rotation. Activision’s general multiplayer guide describes the modes this way:

- Hardpoint: Capture and hold the Hardpoint.
- Search & Destroy: Alternate between detonating and defusing a bomb; players do not respawn.
Those are mode fundamentals, not map-specific callouts. The available Barrage guide does not establish exact objective coordinates or mode rotations. For any mode, use the map’s cover and alternate building routes to approach, and check exposed crossings before committing.
