Turn on the MOMENTUM 5, open Bluetooth settings on your phone, laptop, or tablet, and select MOMENTUM 5 from the list of available devices. The headphones enter pairing mode automatically on first startup if their pairing list is empty.
Pair MOMENTUM 5 with your phone, laptop, or tablet

Switch on the headphones using the multifunction button. On first startup, if the pairing list is empty, they enter pairing mode automatically; the LEDs flash alternately white while pairing mode is active.

On the phone, laptop, or tablet, turn on Bluetooth and open its Bluetooth settings. Start a search for new devices. As Sennheiser’s instruction manual puts it: “From your device’s Bluetooth settings menu, start searching for new Bluetooth devices.” Menu labels vary by operating system and version.

Select MOMENTUM 5 in the available-device list. If the headphones’ name was previously changed in the Smart Control Plus app, select that customized name instead.

If the device asks for a PIN, enter 0000, the manual’s stated default. Successful pairing is announced with “Pairing successful” and “Connected”; the LEDs flash white three times.
Pair a second device
MOMENTUM 5 multipoint supports two devices by default, according to Sennheiser Hearing Support (2026). To add a second device:

Press and hold the headphones’ power button for 5 seconds, until an audio prompt indicates pairing mode.

Open Bluetooth settings on the second device, search for available devices, and select MOMENTUM 5 (or its customized name).

If MOMENTUM 5 does not appear in Bluetooth settings

Check that the device is searching. Open Bluetooth settings and start a fresh search for new devices.

Keep the devices close together. The instruction manual specifies a maximum distance of 20 cm for its described pairing sequence.

Check the device name. Look for MOMENTUM 5, or the custom name if it was changed in Smart Control Plus.

Restart the pairing attempt if it timed out. If no connection is established within 2 minutes, pairing mode is canceled and the headphones enter standby. Start the pairing sequence again.
Sennheiser’s available instructions cover this basic retry process but do not specify a detailed operating-system-specific reset procedure. Bluetooth menu names and navigation differ among iOS, Android, Windows, and macOS versions.
Do you need the BTD 700 adapter?
No adapter is needed for ordinary Bluetooth pairing with a phone, laptop, or tablet. Sennheiser says its BTD 700 Bluetooth adapter can pair with MOMENTUM 5 Wireless and may enable aptX when the source device does not support that codec. Codec support depends on the source device; the adapter is an optional audio capability, not a requirement to connect.
