To pair MOMENTUM 5 Wireless with a phone, turn on the headphones, open the phone’s Bluetooth settings, and select MOMENTUM 5 from the list of available devices. On first power-on, the headphones enter pairing mode automatically if they have no saved pairings. You do not need the Smart Control Plus app to make this initial connection.
Pair MOMENTUM 5 with your phone for the first time

Press the headphones’ multifunction/power button once to turn them on. If their pairing list is empty, they automatically enter Bluetooth pairing mode.

On your phone, open Bluetooth settings and switch Bluetooth on. Choose the option to search for or pair a new device. The exact menu wording varies by phone and software version.

Select MOMENTUM 5 from the discovered-device list. If you previously changed the headphones’ Bluetooth name in Smart Control Plus, select that customized name instead.

Listen for the voice prompts “Pairing successful” and then “Connected.” The LED flashes white three times when pairing succeeds.
The Bluetooth connection is made through your phone’s Bluetooth menu; the app is not required for initial pairing.

If the headphones do not enter pairing mode
Use Sennheiser’s manual pairing sequence: switch the headphones off by holding the multifunction button for two seconds, place them no more than 20 cm from the phone, then press the button once to turn them on. The LEDs flash alternately white as pairing mode starts.
Pair a second phone or other device
MOMENTUM 5 Wireless supports two-device multipoint. To add another device, hold the power button for five seconds until you hear an audio prompt. Then open Bluetooth settings on the second device, search for available devices, and select the headphones. When two devices are paired, the headphones switch audio according to activity such as playback, calls, or notifications.

Troubleshoot a phone that cannot find or connect to MOMENTUM 5

Confirm Bluetooth is enabled on the phone and keep the phone close to the headphones while pairing.

Look for the headphones’ current Bluetooth name. It may differ from “MOMENTUM 5” if it was customized in Smart Control Plus.

If pairing does not complete within two minutes, pairing mode is canceled and the headphones enter standby. Repeat the pairing steps.

If the phone says it is connected but you hear no audio, check the volume on both the phone and headphones, and check which paired device is currently supplying audio.
What Smart Control Plus and wired connections are for
Smart Control Plus is available for iOS and Android and provides access to headphone features and settings, including changing the default Bluetooth name. It is optional for connecting the headphones to a phone the first time.
Bluetooth is the ordinary wireless phone connection. USB-C or AUX can be used for wired listening, which is separate from Bluetooth pairing. Sennheiser’s BTD 700 adapter is an optional way to access aptX when a source does not support it natively; it is not needed for basic phone pairing.
