To order Chick-fil-A ahead, open the Chick-fil-A App, select a restaurant, tap mobile order, choose how you will receive the food, customize each item, review the price, pay, and submit. For pickup, follow the app’s instructions for carryout, curbside, dine-in, drive-thru, or Mobile Thru. For delivery, choose “Deliver to me” when a participating restaurant and provider are available.
The app is the final authority for what can be ordered. Restaurant menus, prices, pickup methods, delivery providers, customization controls, and fees can differ by location and change over time.
What you need before placing a mobile order
Install and open the Chick-fil-A App, then allow it to identify or search for a restaurant. You can browse before choosing a location, but you must select the restaurant that will prepare the order before the app can show its menu, fulfillment choices, prices, and available customizations.

- A selected restaurant: Nearby restaurants may offer different hours, menu items, pickup lanes, and delivery options.
- A payment method: The app requires payment confirmation before the order is submitted. The payment options shown in your account are the ones available for your transaction.
- Location services (optional but useful): They help with curbside and carryout arrival detection. You can still follow the app’s manual arrival instructions if you do not enable location access.
- A Chick-fil-A One account (optional): An account lets you save favorites, reorder customized meals, and earn points on qualifying app purchases.
How to order ahead in the Chick-fil-A App
1. Choose the restaurant
Open the app and select the restaurant where you want to pick up the food or that will handle delivery. Check the displayed hours and service availability before building the order. If you are ordering for later, make sure the selected restaurant is the location where you intend to arrive; changing locations later can remove items or customizations that the new restaurant does not offer.

2. Start a mobile order and select fulfillment
Tap the mobile-order option. The app presents the fulfillment methods available at that restaurant. Depending on the location, you may see carryout, curbside, dine-in, drive-thru, Mobile Thru, or delivery. Select the method before adding items so the app can apply the correct arrival instructions and timing estimate.

3. Add menu items
Browse categories or search the menu, then tap an item to open its detail screen. Set the quantity and inspect the item’s ingredients, sauces, sides, and other choices before adding it. The controls shown on this screen are specific to both the item and the restaurant you selected.
If an item has no available changes, the app displays No customizations. That message means the ordering system does not expose a modification for that item at that restaurant; it is not a prompt to type a free-form request elsewhere in the order.

Chick-fil-A’s enhanced ordering experience uses tap-to-add and tap-to-remove controls. Tap an ingredient, sauce, or other offered option to add it, and tap a selected ingredient to remove it. The app updates the item summary as you make changes. Examples such as extra pickles or a different sauce are possible only when those controls appear for the particular item and location.
Some additions carry an extra charge. Review the item total and any add-on fee before placing the order; the amount is restaurant- and item-specific. Chick-fil-A says cooking times can no longer be altered through the ordering experience, so the app cannot be used to request a different fry time or another preparation-time change.
5. Review the order
Open the cart and check every item, quantity, customization, sauce, side, destination, and estimated wait. Confirm that an add-on charge appears where expected and that an unwanted ingredient is actually removed rather than merely hidden in a collapsed menu. If the restaurant, pickup method, or item is wrong, return to the relevant screen before paying.

6. Pay and submit
Confirm the payment method and submit the order. Wait for the in-app confirmation rather than assuming that an item in the cart has been sent to the kitchen. Save a customized item as a favorite after the order if you expect to buy the same combination again.
Picking up an app order
Standard drive-thru pickup
- Drive to the restaurant and enter the regular drive-thru line.
- At the speaker or when meeting a team member, say that you placed the order through the Chick-fil-A App.
- Provide any identifying information the team member requests and follow the lane instructions.
- Check the handoff before leaving, especially if the order contains several customized items.
A standard drive-thru mobile order does not automatically give you access to a separate lane. Select Mobile Thru instead when the app and signs show that the restaurant supports it.
Mobile Thru pickup
Mobile Thru is a dedicated drive-thru lane for guests who place an order ahead in the app. It is not available at every restaurant.
- Choose Mobile Thru as the destination while placing the order.
- Drive to a participating restaurant and follow the signs to the dedicated lane.
- Open the order in the app and scan its QR code at the designated point.
- Pull forward as directed for the handoff.
In a September 2023 rollout report, Chick-fil-A said 85% of customers who used Mobile Thru were likely to use it again and 90% said the experience went smoothly. Those figures describe Chick-fil-A’s reported rollout experience, not a guarantee for every restaurant or visit.
Curbside pickup
- Choose curbside during checkout and note the restaurant’s arrival instructions.
- Park in a numbered or marked curbside space.
- Enable location services if you want the app to detect your approach automatically; otherwise use the manual arrival control if shown.
- Remain in the vehicle until a team member brings the order.
Chick-fil-A says geofencing can detect when a customer is approaching and start preparation at an appropriate time. The app may also show an estimated wait. In a 2023 test at 100 restaurants, Chick-fil-A reported that geofencing and estimated-wait changes reduced average waits by one to two minutes and made estimates accurate more than 90% of the time. Actual waits depend on the restaurant’s workload, staffing, traffic, and order complexity.
Carryout and dine-in
For carryout, enter the restaurant and use the designated mobile-pickup area or the instructions displayed in the app. For dine-in, select the dine-in destination before checkout and follow the restaurant’s directions for where to wait or sit. Indoor layouts differ, so do not assume that every restaurant uses the same pickup shelf or table process.

How to customize a Chick-fil-A meal in the app
Use the controls on the item screen
Customization is item-specific rather than a universal setting. After selecting an item, look for the ingredient and option controls, then use tap-to-add and tap-to-remove. The app may expose changes to vegetables, toppings, sauces, cheese, sides, or other components depending on the item and restaurant.
Salads, sandwiches, and breakfast items tend to provide the most flexibility, according to Chick-fil-A. That is a general tendency, not a promise that every item in those categories can be changed. The selected item’s screen remains authoritative.
Extra ingredients and sauces
To request an extra pickle, sauce, or another ingredient, open the item and tap the relevant add control if it appears. A fee may be added. Sauce choices are also location- and item-specific; if the sauce does not appear as an available option, the app does not provide a supported way to attach it to that item in that transaction.
Removing ingredients
Tap a selected ingredient to remove it, then verify the revised item summary in the cart. Removing an ingredient does not necessarily reduce the price, and the app may not allow every component to be removed. The absence of a remove control means the item cannot be changed that way through the ordering experience.
Changes the app does not support
- Cooking-time requests cannot be altered through the ordering experience.
- Free-form instructions cannot replace a missing customization control.
- A custom combination that is not shown may be refused if the restaurant cannot prepare it consistently or the required components are unavailable.
Submit only what the app confirms. If a dietary or preparation requirement is medically important, contact the restaurant before ordering rather than relying on an unlisted instruction.
Dietary filters, allergies, and modified orders
The Dietary Preference Center offers filters for gluten-sensitive, dairy-sensitive, vegetarian, sodium-conscious, carb-conscious, and high-protein choices. These icons describe standard preparation. When you add or remove ingredients, the dietary icons do not automatically recalculate to reflect the modified item.

For an allergy or medically required diet, read the current ingredient information and verify preparation with the restaurant. Shared equipment, cross-contact, substitutions, sauces, and a customization made after a filter is applied can affect suitability. A dietary icon should therefore be treated as a screening aid, not an allergy guarantee.

- Choose a participating restaurant and tap Deliver to me.
- Enter or confirm the delivery address.
- Select an available provider, such as Chick-fil-A Delivery or DoorDash, when offered.
- Choose an available delivery time.
- Review the delivery menu, fees, and total before checkout.
- Pay and submit the order, then use the delivery status shown in the app or provider flow.
Delivery availability varies by restaurant. Menu prices are higher than in-restaurant prices, and additional delivery or service fees can apply. The displayed total at checkout is the amount to use for the decision; a nearby restaurant may have different pricing or no delivery service at all.
Chick-fil-A One points, favorites, and reordering
Chick-fil-A One members can earn 10 points per dollar on qualifying purchases, according to the current rewards page. Example rewards begin at 200 points. The qualifying-order rules and redemption terms shown in your account control your transaction.
Sign in before checkout so an eligible app order can be associated with your account. After ordering, save a frequently used meal as a favorite. Favorites can preserve a customized combination and make a future reorder faster, but the restaurant still determines whether the item, ingredient, price, and customization are available on the later visit.

Chick-fil-A has no official secret menu. Customers can combine menu items or customize them through options exposed in the app, but an unofficial combination is not guaranteed to be available. Whether a particular request can be made depends on the restaurant’s ingredients, equipment, staffing, and current menu configuration.

The practical approach is to build the closest supported combination in the app. If the required option is missing, ask the restaurant before placing an order rather than assuming that an internet “secret menu” item will be recognized.

Choosing the best fulfillment method

There is no universally fastest option. The best choice depends on the selected restaurant’s predicted wait, traffic around the drive-thru, whether a Mobile Thru lane exists, and whether delivery premiums are acceptable.
Common problems and fixes
The customization option is missing
Confirm the restaurant and item first. If the item screen says No customizations, that location does not offer a supported change for that item through the app. Try a different menu item only if its own controls show the ingredient you need; do not assume that switching categories will preserve the same options.
The price changed after an add-on
Open the item summary and identify the added ingredient or sauce. Add-on fees are item- and restaurant-specific. Remove the option if you do not want the charge, then confirm the cart total again before payment.

The order is not visible at the drive-thru
Verify that the app displayed an order-confirmation screen and that you selected the same restaurant where you arrived. In a standard lane, tell the team member that the order was placed in the app. At Mobile Thru, use the QR code and the dedicated lane; scanning in the regular lane may not trigger the Mobile Thru handoff process.
Curbside has not detected arrival
Check that you are in the marked curbside space and that location permission is enabled if you expected automatic detection. Use the app’s manual arrival option when available, or follow the restaurant’s posted instructions. The estimated wait is a prediction, not a promise.
Delivery is unavailable
Delivery can disappear when the selected restaurant, address, provider, time, or operating hours do not qualify. Recheck the address and try another participating restaurant shown by the app. Do not switch to pickup without reviewing the destination and total; the menus and prices may differ.
A dietary icon does not match a customized item
Dietary icons describe standard preparation and do not automatically update after custom changes. Review the ingredients and contact the restaurant for allergy or medical-diet questions before submitting.

A final pre-submit checklist
- Correct restaurant and operating hours selected.
- Pickup or delivery method matches how you will receive the food.
- Every item has the desired quantity, ingredient removals, additions, and sauces.
- Add-on fees and delivery charges are understood.
- Estimated wait or delivery time fits your schedule.
- Payment and, if applicable, Chick-fil-A One account are confirmed.
- Any allergy or medical dietary concern has been verified with the restaurant.
