There is no single way to open every Samsung subwoofer, and Samsung does not publish a universal teardown. The right approach depends on your exact model code and on which part you want to reach: the removable fabric grille, or the sealed cabinet that holds the driver and electronics. Identify both before doing anything, then follow only the official guidance for your model.
Step 1: Decide what you mean by “open”
People use “open” for two very different jobs, and they carry very different risk.
- Removing the exterior grille or fabric cover. This is usually done to clean dust from the outside or to replace a damaged grille. The question is whether your model’s grille is designed to come off at all.
- Opening the cabinet. This means getting to the driver, amplifier board, or other electronics inside. It is a repair task, not a cleaning step, and it is where the electrical risk sits.
Step 2: Find the exact model code
Samsung’s manuals, repair guides, and parts information are all tied to a specific model code, so a similar-looking subwoofer can have different instructions.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Locate the label on the subwoofer. The model code is printed there, though its position varies by product, so check the back, the bottom, and the area around the port.
- Search for that code at the Samsung Electronics Service audio download center at https://www.samsungsvc.co.kr/download?code=%EC%98%A4%EB%94%94%EC%98%A4, which Samsung directs users to by model code.
- Check the Samsung support page for the same code. Support pages list manuals for individual models. Examples include the wireless subwoofer pages for SWA-W700 and SWA-W510. These show what a model-specific page looks like; they are not instructions for other models.
- Read the manual and any repair guide listed for your code. Samsung states that its self-repair guides cover only products eligible for customer self-repair. If no guide exists for your model, that tells you the internal work is not meant for self-repair.
Removing an exterior grille or fabric cover
Start with the manual for your exact model. If it describes how to detach the grille, follow those steps in the order given. If it does not mention removal, leave the grille in place.

No universal grille-removal procedure is established for Samsung subwoofers. Grille fittings differ between models, and forcing a grille off with a method borrowed from another product can snap clips or tear the fabric. Owner discussions about a Samsung 950a grille question and a Samsung PS-WM20 opening question show that owners ask this often. These are user threads, not official instructions, so treat any answer in them as unverified for your model.
Why opening the cabinet is a service task
A Samsung user manual for a soundbar package that includes a subwoofer contains this warning: “TO REDUCE THE RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, DO NOT REMOVE THE COVER (OR BACK).” The manual is available as an indexed PDF. Check your own model’s manual for its exact wording before quoting it as your product’s text.

Unplugging the subwoofer does not make an unknown internal procedure safe. Do not pry at seams, remove glued panels, or work on internal electronics unless an official service guide for your exact model covers that step and you are qualified to do it. Without that guide, the correct route is Samsung support or a qualified service provider.

An iFixit guide, Samsung Radiant360 R3 Subwoofer Replacement, documents removing the bottom and outer shell to reach that subwoofer. It is useful as an example of how a teardown can be structured, but it applies to the Radiant360 R3 only. It does not show how other Samsung subwoofers open. The guide’s method includes prying the shell with a metal spudger; that tool and technique should not be carried over to other models.

Choosing your route
| Your goal | What you need to check | Recommended route |
|---|---|---|
| Clean or remove the exterior grille | Whether your model’s manual describes removal | Follow the manual if it covers removal; if not, do not remove the grille |
| Reach the driver or electronics | Whether an official self-repair guide exists for your exact model code | Follow that guide only, and stop if a step is not covered |
| Reach the driver or electronics | No official guide for your model | Contact Samsung support or a qualified service provider |
| Model code not found | Label location on the subwoofer | Identify the code before searching for guides |
| Radiant360 R3 teardown | Whether your model is the R3 | Use only for the R3; treat it as background for any other model |
Parts and tools
No replacement driver, grille, or accessory has been established to fit an unidentified Samsung subwoofer. A general-purpose opening kit is not a reliable substitute for model-specific information, and using one on an enclosure can encourage the unsafe access described above. Confirm any part number against Samsung’s support materials for your exact model before buying anything.

- You cannot read the model code on the label.
- The manual has no section on removing the grille or cover.
- The repair requires access to the driver, amplifier, or other electronics and no official guide for your model covers it.
- A step in a guide is unclear, or the cabinet resists opening.
Samsung support pages, repair eligibility, and service availability vary by model and region and change over time. Check them for your model at the time you act.
