“Taking a Samsung remote apart” can mean opening its battery compartment or separating its main housing. Samsung’s instructions explain how to reach the batteries on several remote designs; they do not provide steps for splitting the housing. Start by identifying your remote’s model number, then use the matching battery-cover procedure below. For anything beyond battery access, consult that model’s manual rather than prying the case open.
Identify your Samsung remote before opening it
Samsung remotes use different battery-cover designs, so there is no single opening method for every model. Find the model number on the remote, then check its manual for the exact instructions. Samsung’s support guide for changing remote batteries describes several designs and says to follow the instructions for the specific model.
Open the battery compartment by remote design
Match the back of your remote to one of the designs below. Stop if the cover does not move as described; forcing it may damage the remote.

These battery types apply to the designs described on that support page, not to every Samsung remote. Check the compartment markings and your model’s manual before inserting batteries.

Replace batteries and close the cover
- Open the compartment using the procedure that matches your remote.
- Remove the old batteries and check the polarity markings inside the compartment.
- Install the specified battery type with the positive and negative ends aligned to those markings. For the BN59-01346A Smart Remote, Samsung’s US instructions specify two 1.5 V AAA batteries.
- Slide or press the cover back into place according to the remote’s design. Do not force it if it does not seat easily.
Battery access is not the same as taking the housing apart
The steps above expose the battery compartment; they do not explain how to separate the remote’s main housing. Samsung’s battery instructions do not provide internal teardown, repair, or reassembly steps. If you need to reach components inside the case, look up the manual for your exact model or contact Samsung support rather than treating the battery cover as a starting point for prying the shell apart.
