To offer meeting times, start in Gmail—not the Google Meet app. In a Gmail message, choose Set up a time to meet > Propose times you’re free, select your available slots, add meeting details and send the email. The recipient can pick a slot from the message; Gmail then creates the Calendar event and sends a confirmation. Google announced this feature in July 2023, so “new” describes its original launch, not a 2026 release.
What “Offer times you’re free” does
This is a manual scheduling option in Gmail. You choose the duration and several available slots, then include them in an email. It is useful when you want to offer specific options without asking someone to compare calendars over a series of messages. The workflow can include a conference option, such as a Google Meet link, in the event details.
The recipient selects one of the proposed times. Gmail then creates the meeting on your Calendar and sends a confirmation email with the meeting details. See Google’s instructions for offering times in a Gmail message.

- On a computer, open Gmail and start a new message or reply to an existing email.
- At the bottom of the message, select Set up a time to meet, then Propose times you’re free. If you do not see the control, open More options.
- Choose the meeting duration, then select multiple available time slots. You can offer slots on different days.
- Continue to enter the event title and description, and choose a conference option if you want to include one.
- Add the proposed times to the email and send it.
The labels and placement above follow Google’s current Help instructions. Google’s 2023 walkthrough showed an earlier interface with a Calendar icon and the label “Offer times you’re free,” so older screenshots may look different. See Google’s September 2023 Gmail scheduling walkthrough.

What happens after you send the proposal
The times are shown in the sender’s timezone to the sender and in the recipient’s timezone to the recipient. Once the recipient chooses a slot, Gmail creates the event on the sender’s primary Calendar and emails a confirmation. The proposed times remain bookable for 30 days through the booking page, according to Google’s Help page.
The event’s default calendar permission is See guest list. After the event is confirmed, you can change guest permissions in Calendar.

Who can use this option—and its limits
Google’s current Gmail Help page says the manual offer-times feature is available with a personal Gmail account or a Workspace Business Starter subscription. It uses your primary calendar and is intended for one-to-one scheduling.
- Multiple email recipients: Only the first recipient who books can join automatically. Add any other participants to the confirmed event separately.
- Calendar choice: The meeting is scheduled on your primary calendar.
- More than one guest: Do not use this manual proposal flow as a group-scheduling tool; it does not automatically coordinate the availability of several recipients.
Because Google’s plan eligibility can change, check the current account note on the Gmail Help page if the option is missing.

How this differs from Gmail’s Gemini scheduling feature
Gmail also has a separate Gemini-powered option called Help me schedule. It suggests meeting times using calendar availability rather than asking you to select every slot manually. Google says it can coordinate multiple guests when their calendar availability is visible; its current Help page allows up to 20 guests on one schedule. Availability and eligibility differ from the manual feature.

Google announced the manual feature on July 11, 2023, and announced Gemini-powered Help me schedule on October 14, 2025. Google expanded the Gemini feature to multiple guests on March 12, 2026.
