You can move most everyday data from an iPhone to a Xiaomi phone with Xiaomi’s Mi Mover or the copy option during Android setup, but no single method is guaranteed to transfer everything. Handle WhatsApp chat history separately, check whether iCloud photos need a separate route, and keep the iPhone unchanged until you have verified the Xiaomi.
Choose a transfer method before you start
Use one method as your main copy, then use another only to fill a specific gap. Running two full migrations at once may create duplicate or confusing results; Xiaomi and Google do not promise that overlapping imports will merge cleanly on every model.

Prepare both phones and protect the original data
- Charge both phones. Xiaomi’s Mi Mover guidance calls for at least 30% battery on each device, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled, and the latest Mi Mover app.
- Check that the Xiaomi has enough free storage for the material you intend to move. Google specifically advises checking storage before copying.
- Keep both devices on a reliable Wi-Fi connection and close together for a wireless transfer. Do not switch away from the transfer app while Mi Mover is sending data.
- If WhatsApp history matters, have access to the same phone number and leave WhatsApp on the Xiaomi unactivated until the iPhone transfer is complete.
- Choose whether you are comfortable with a local transfer or prefer a cloud route. Xiaomi describes Mi Mover’s process as local and peer-to-peer and says the data is not uploaded to a server. Its privacy policy says the iCloud-based flow may use your Apple ID, password, and verification code for the transfer, and that Xiaomi does not retain that information. Review the Mi Mover privacy policy if you are considering that flow.
Copy general data to the Xiaomi
Try Android’s setup copy on a new phone
- Start Xiaomi’s initial setup and look for the option to copy apps and data from an iPhone or iPad.
- Follow the prompts shown on your Xiaomi. Google’s general process supports a cable or wireless copy where available; the exact choices and steps depend on the device.
- If using a cable, check the connectors on the cable and both phones before starting. An adapter may be needed in some combinations, but not all.
- Let the copy finish before moving to other tasks. Google recommends disabling iMessage as part of the move so messages can reach the Android phone; follow its current instructions for your iPhone and carrier.
Google notes that photos and videos stored only in iCloud are not included in the ordinary device copy. Treat those as a separate transfer rather than assuming setup has brought over your full photo library.
Use Mi Mover if setup copy is unavailable or incomplete
- Install or open the latest Mi Mover app on both the iPhone and Xiaomi.
- In Mi Mover, set the iPhone as the old device and the Xiaomi as the new device.
- When the phones detect and connect to each other, select the data categories you want to send and start the transfer.
- Keep the phones close, screens on, and the app in the foreground until it finishes.
Xiaomi says Mi Mover can transfer contacts, messages, photos, videos, music, apps, and other data. It also warns that compatibility varies with the source phone and operating system, so confirm what the app actually offers on your devices rather than treating the category list as a guarantee for every model.

Transfer WhatsApp chats separately
- On the iPhone, update WhatsApp where practical and open WhatsApp > Settings > Chats > Transfer chat history > Transfer to Android.
- On the Xiaomi, begin WhatsApp’s transfer flow and follow the prompts. When Android displays a QR code, scan it with the iPhone and keep the iPhone unlocked while the transfer runs.
- Use the same phone number on the Xiaomi, keep the Wi-Fi connection stable, and complete the transfer before activating WhatsApp on the new phone.
- After the transfer reports completion, open WhatsApp on the Xiaomi and check the chats and media you care about.
WhatsApp’s guide lists account information, individual and group chats, communities, channel updates, call history, files, and settings among the supported items. It says the method does not transfer your display name, status updates, channel media, peer-to-peer payment messages, or WhatsApp Business chats. Those details describe WhatsApp’s published workflow and may change as the app is updated. WhatsApp also advises not to erase old data before confirming the transfer.
Bring over photos and contacts that are missing
Check whether the photo library was actually copied
Compare a selection of recent and older photos, albums, and videos on the Xiaomi with what you can see on the iPhone. If some images are in iCloud rather than stored on the iPhone, use a separate route: Google says iCloud photos and videos are not part of the ordinary Android setup copy.

Use Google Drive for selected information
Xiaomi’s published iOS instructions describe backing up selected images, contacts, and calendar events to Google Drive, then signing in to that Google account on the Xiaomi and syncing the items. The page states a free backup capacity of 15 GB; check the account’s current available storage before relying on it, as both available space and app screens can differ from the published instructions.

For individual files or photos, Xiaomi Share may be useful if the iPhone, Xiaomi, and apps meet its requirements. On the Xiaomi, look in File Manager > Download > MiShare for received items. Use it to fill a file-level gap, not as a substitute for moving contacts or chat history.

Verify the move before retiring the iPhone
- Open Contacts on the Xiaomi and spot-check important names and numbers.
- Check representative older and recent photos, albums, and videos, especially anything that may have been stored in iCloud.
- Open WhatsApp and confirm that the chats and media you need are present.
- Check that calls and incoming SMS work as expected, and make sure iMessage is disabled according to Google’s migration guidance.
- Keep the iPhone and its data intact until you are satisfied with the results. Do not erase, reset, or trade it in while an important item is still unverified.
The prompts can differ with Xiaomi model, Android or HyperOS version, iOS version, region, cable connectors, and app versions. Follow the instructions shown on your devices, and regard a transfer as complete only after checking the data that matters to you.
