For monitoring email deliverability, HubSpot documents a marketing-email health dashboard and, on eligible plans, reports that break delivery down by mailbox provider. Mailchimp’s general guidance focuses on authentication, audience quality, content, cadence, and campaign monitoring; its more detailed SMTP diagnostics belong to Mailchimp Transactional, a separate sending workflow. These tools report signals such as delivery outcomes, bounces, complaints, and engagement—not a guarantee that messages reach inboxes.

What email deliverability monitoring can—and cannot—tell you

Delivery reporting describes what a sending platform records about messages and recipient-server responses. Deliverability is broader: it concerns whether a message reaches the inbox, spam folder, or another destination. Bounce rates, spam reports, engagement, and authentication status can help diagnose reputation and delivery problems, but the reviewed product documentation does not establish that either platform can guarantee inbox placement.

Mailchimp and HubSpot also expose different scopes of information. HubSpot’s marketing-email reports, Mailchimp’s marketing-campaign guidance, and Mailchimp Transactional’s event-level diagnostics are not interchangeable products or directly equivalent reports.

What HubSpot shows

Email health dashboard

HubSpot’s email health dashboard provides a reputation snapshot: a score from 1 to 10, measures including opens, click-throughs, hard bounces, unsubscribes, and spam reports, plus recommendations. It requires at least 400 emails sent in the previous 30 days before data appears. Health reports exclude the latest 48 hours, and the score-over-time view covers up to 12 months for months with more than 400 sends. These are product reporting rules, not deliverability benchmarks. The dashboard does not include Gmail spam-report data. HubSpot points users to Google Postmaster Tools for that signal. HubSpot also notes that industry benchmarking is available only for some industries.

Delivery reports and provider breakdowns

HubSpot’s separate Delivery reports provide delivery overviews, performance trends, monthly metrics, hard- and soft-bounce reasons, delivery rates and performance by mailbox provider, and performance by segment. The documented segment report supports up to 21 segments. HubSpot lists Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise as the required subscriptions for these reports, so they should not be assumed available on every account. See HubSpot’s email delivery reporting documentation

If you are asking, “Which platform shows email delivery by mailbox provider?”, HubSpot’s documented Delivery reports do. That is a statement about the listed report functionality, not proof that Mailchimp lacks an equivalent feature: the Mailchimp sources reviewed here do not establish a comparable marketing-report inventory.

What Mailchimp shows and recommends

Marketing campaign monitoring

Mailchimp’s deliverability guidance recommends monitoring campaign performance as part of maintaining sender reputation. It emphasizes authenticating the sending domain; using a clean, engaged audience made up of people who explicitly gave permission; sending relevant content at an appropriate cadence; and avoiding unauthenticated sending, stale or purchased contacts, and poor content or cadence practices. Mailchimp says automated abuse-prevention controls can flag or pause risky sending patterns. Its guidance is advice about practices and monitoring, not a feature-by-feature specification of a marketing dashboard. Mailchimp: How Mailchimp Does Deliverability

Mailchimp Transactional diagnostics

Mailchimp Transactional is a separate transactional-email workflow. Its documentation describes recipient-server SMTP responses and event details for delivered messages, hard bounces, and soft bounces. Users can inspect full SMTP responses and originating and receiving IP details; API events and webhooks can expose SMTP event details and bounce information. Sending requires a verified domain, DKIM records, and a valid DMARC policy. These technical diagnostics should not be presented as the default reporting available for every Mailchimp marketing campaign. Mailchimp Transactional authentication and delivery documentation

How the documented monitoring capabilities compare

Monitoring need HubSpot Mailchimp
Reputation or health snapshot Email health score and engagement, bounce, unsubscribe, and spam-report indicators; requires 400 sends in the preceding 30 days, with the latest 48 hours omitted. General guidance recommends monitoring campaign performance; the reviewed guidance does not specify a directly comparable health dashboard.
Trends and filtering Delivery trends, monthly metrics, bounce reasons, provider and segment breakdowns; Delivery reports are listed for Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise. A comparable marketing-report inventory was not established by the reviewed sources.
Mailbox-provider view Delivery reports document delivery rates and performance by mailbox provider. Gmail spam-report data is not in the health dashboard; HubSpot directs users to Google Postmaster Tools. A comparable provider-level or Gmail complaint-reporting capability was not established by the reviewed sources.
Technical event detail Marketing email recipient analytics can show delivery and bounce events; authentication documentation covers domain setup. Mailchimp Transactional documents SMTP responses, bounce categories, IP details, and API or webhook event access.
Authentication guidance Documentation covers DKIM, SPF, and DMARC. DKIM is needed to use a connected sending domain in the From address. General guidance stresses authentication and permission-based audiences. Transactional sending requires a verified domain, DKIM, and a valid DMARC policy.

“Not established” in this comparison describes the reviewed documentation, not confirmed absence of a feature. Nor do the available sources provide an apples-to-apples independent benchmark of inbox placement or a shared health-score methodology. A score in one platform therefore cannot be treated as directly comparable to a report or metric in the other.

Choose by workflow, not by an inbox-placement promise

  • For provider-level marketing delivery analysis: HubSpot is the clearer fit if you need the documented mailbox-provider breakdowns and your subscription includes Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise.
  • For event-level transactional troubleshooting: Mailchimp Transactional is a fit if you need the documented SMTP response detail, bounce events, and API or webhook access in that workflow.
  • For marketing-list reputation work: Mailchimp’s guidance is especially explicit about permission, list hygiene, relevant content, cadence, authentication, and campaign monitoring. Those practices matter regardless of which platform sends the email.
  • For Gmail complaint signals: HubSpot’s health dashboard does not include Gmail spam-report data; use Google Postmaster Tools for that signal rather than treating the dashboard as complete.

Authentication and audience practices remain essential

Monitoring helps identify symptoms; it does not replace sound sender configuration or list practices. HubSpot’s authentication guidance covers DKIM, SPF, and DMARC. It says DKIM must be configured to use a connected sending domain in the From address. SPF is configured on shared marketing servers, while customers with a dedicated IP must configure SPF on their envelope return-path domain. DMARC provides reporting about authentication outcomes. HubSpot says its support team cannot configure DMARC and directs customers to an IT administrator or third-party DMARC reporting or consulting services. HubSpot’s email authentication overview

Mailchimp likewise stresses authenticated domains and permission-based, engaged audiences. In its own words: “To repair your reputation (and boost deliverability), it’s crucial to authenticate your sending domain, focus on maintaining a clean, engaged list of subscribers who have explicitly given you permission to contact them, regularly send emails that interest your audience (and pertain to the reason they joined your list), and monitor campaign performance.” — Mailchimp, “How Mailchimp Does Deliverability”
