You can monitor cloud security and compliance from a consolidated dashboard, but no dashboard automatically covers every cloud, account, region, resource, or audit requirement. Choose a service based on where your workloads run, which controls it assesses, how it collects findings, and what its plan includes. Treat its results as posture and control evidence—not as proof that your organization is legally compliant or certified.
What a single cloud security view can—and cannot—show
Cloud security posture management (CSPM) tools assess configurations and other security signals against selected controls or standards, then organize the resulting findings for review and remediation. Depending on the service, a consolidated view may combine checks from the vendor’s own cloud tools with findings from connected services or third parties.
The view is only as broad as its configuration. A dashboard can omit resources in unconnected accounts or projects, disabled regions, unsupported resource types, unselected frameworks, or capabilities excluded from the organization’s tier. Check the service’s scope and data sources before treating an empty findings list as evidence that an environment is secure.
A control mapping can help teams track alignment with a framework such as CIS, NIST, or PCI DSS. It is not, by itself, a certification, legal opinion, or guarantee that every requirement applies to and is met by your organization. Confirm the relevant control definitions, shared-responsibility boundaries, evidence requirements, and audit scope with your compliance team.

How the main cloud security dashboards differ
The services below offer consolidated monitoring, but they differ in cloud coverage, setup, and available capabilities. Product names and entitlements can change; check the linked vendor documentation and current terms when evaluating a deployment.
| Service | Cloud coverage and view | Controls, findings, and setup | Tier or availability detail |
|---|---|---|---|
| AWS Security Hub CSPM | AWS-focused account-level security view. It reviews AWS security state against supported standards and best practices and can consolidate findings from AWS services and supported third parties. AWS documentation | Checks include AWS Foundational Security Best Practices and examples such as CIS, PCI DSS, and NIST. Findings can include signals from GuardDuty, Inspector, and Macie; rules and EventBridge can support prioritization and automated responses. AWS Config must be enabled and recording resources for most control findings. Results are regional, and Security Hub CSPM only processes findings generated after enablement in enabled Regions. AWS says full CIS AWS Foundations Benchmark checks require enabling the service in all supported AWS Regions. AWS documentation | A first-time account enablement includes a 30-day free trial; interacting services may still incur charges during that trial. AWS documentation |
| Microsoft Defender for Cloud | The Cloud Overview dashboard can be viewed at tenant level or a selected scope, with an environment filter for Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud. It groups security posture, workload protections, regulatory compliance, and inventory. Microsoft Learn | Microsoft documents continuous assessment of hybrid and multicloud resources against supported compliance standards. The dashboard supports trend views over 30 days, three months, or six months. Introductory documentation describes multicloud connection using agentless methods for CSPM insight and CWPP protection. Dashboard documentation · Service overview | Microsoft identifies Foundational CSPM as free and lists governance, regulatory compliance, and Cloud Security Explorer under advanced Defender CSPM. Verify current plan-specific entitlements against Microsoft’s terms. Microsoft Learn |
| Google Security Command Center | Google describes Standard as Google Cloud-only and Enterprise as the multicloud option for Google Cloud, AWS, and/or Azure. The overview covers vulnerability and threat detection, posture and policy management, compliance and data-security frameworks, and findings export to BigQuery and Pub/Sub. Findings can come from built-in, integrated Google Cloud, and registered third-party services. Product page · Overview documentation | Compliance Manager views summarize applied-framework status, findings, and scores; detailed views include control mappings, shared-responsibility status, trends, remediation guidance, top findings, and CSV reports. Frameworks must be applied to the relevant organization, folders, or projects, and users need an appropriate Compliance Manager Viewer role or equivalent permissions. Google Cloud Documentation | The product page describes Standard as no-cost auto-activation for new customers, Premium as subscription or pay-as-you-go, and Enterprise as subscription-priced. Google says Security Command Center Enterprise shuts down May 21, 2027, with affected organizations moving to Premium on or after that date; verify current tier availability and migration details. How to choose a dashboard for your cloud estate
- List the environments and scope you need to see. Identify cloud providers, accounts or subscriptions, projects, regions, and resource types. For AWS, decide which Regions to enable; for Microsoft’s overview, check the selected tenant scope and environment filter; for Google, identify the organizations, folders, and projects where frameworks must be applied.
- Match control coverage to your audit or security objectives. Identify the specific framework and control requirements, then verify the product’s actual mappings and the resources those controls cover. A framework name on a product page does not show that every organizational requirement is included.
- Trace where findings come from. Check which native services, third-party integrations, agents, or agentless connections contribute data, and whether the service can see the assets you care about. Ask how findings are refreshed and what is excluded when a source is not connected.
- Check access, onboarding, and response workflows. Confirm the roles and permissions needed to connect accounts or projects and view reports. Decide whether you need prioritization, alerts, automated responses, remediation guidance, or exports for audit evidence.
- Estimate the operating model and cost. Compare included capabilities by tier, subscription or usage-based charges, regional or account expansion, and costs from connected services. A free tier or trial does not necessarily make all underlying services free.
- Validate the view before relying on it. Connect a representative scope, apply the required frameworks, and confirm that expected assets and findings appear. Record which accounts, regions, projects, standards, integrations, and permissions are in scope so teams understand what the dashboard does not cover.
Which option fits common scenarios?
An AWS-only environment
Evaluate Security Hub CSPM against the AWS controls you need, the enabled Regions, AWS Config recording, and the finding integrations your team uses. Account for regional enablement and service usage when estimating coverage and cost.

A mixed Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud estate
Microsoft documents dashboard filtering across Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud; Google describes multicloud coverage under Security Command Center Enterprise. Compare the resource types and controls covered in the specific tier you would deploy, along with onboarding effort and permissions. For Google Enterprise evaluations, include the announced May 21, 2027 shutdown and migration to Premium in the availability decision.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsA specific framework or audit requirement
Start with the required controls, not the framework label. Verify mappings, applicable cloud resources, evidence and export formats, and responsibility boundaries with the teams responsible for the audit. Treat dashboard scores and findings as monitoring inputs rather than a substitute for an audit or certification.

What AWS means by continuous checks
AWS documentation says, “Security Hub CSPM automatically runs continuous, account-level configuration and security checks based on AWS best practices and industry standards.” The account-level description does not remove the regional qualification: only enabled Regions are processed, and the checks depend on the service and its prerequisites being configured for the resources in scope.
