To match colors in Filmora, select the clip you want to adjust, open AI Color Palette, choose a representative frame or local image/video as the reference, then generate and apply the palette. Adjust its strength and compare nearby shots; the feature can help create a consistent look, but it cannot guarantee identical results from footage recorded under very different lighting or exposure conditions.
Prepare the footage before matching
Choose a target clip and a reference that shows the look you want the target to approach. Filmora’s current Windows guide supports a frame from the timeline or a local image or video as the reference. Prefer footage with reasonably similar lighting and exposure: an automatic palette match is not a substitute for correcting major capture differences.
If a clip has an obvious white-balance or exposure problem, correct it before applying a creative look. In Filmora, open Color > Basic to access white-balance options such as Auto or Eyedropper, manual Temperature and Tint, and light controls including Exposure, Brightness, Contrast, Highlights, and Shadows. Filmora’s color-correction guide describes these controls.

Use AI Color Palette in Filmora
- Select the target clip in the timeline.
- Open AI Color Palette from the clip’s right-click menu or the Color panel.
- Choose a reference source. For a timeline reference, move to the frame that best represents the intended look. Alternatively, select a local image or video, then choose the relevant frame if the file is a video.
- Generate the palette, then save and apply it to the target clip.
- Adjust Strength while comparing the target with the reference. Use the lowest strength that brings the shots closer without making the target look unnatural.
- When people appear in the footage, consider enabling Protect Skin Tones. Review the adjusted clip alongside neighboring shots to check continuity.
The current Filmora AI Color Palette guide documents the reference choices, palette generation, strength adjustment, and skin-tone setting for Windows. The reference source, match intensity, and skin-tone handling are the main choices to evaluate; the result still depends on the footage.

What to do if your Filmora version says Color Match
Filmora’s older tutorial uses the name Color Match and documents a workflow for versions V11, V12, and V13. In that interface, enable Color Match, choose a reference frame, click Match, use Comparison View to inspect the reference and current clip, adjust match strength, and confirm. The older Color Match tutorial explains those version-specific steps. If your interface uses AI Color Palette instead, follow the current workflow above.
Use a LUT for a reusable look
A LUT is another option when you want to apply a reusable color look. Filmora documents importing LUTs, adjusting their strength, protecting skin tones, and exporting a selected grade as a .cube file in its color guide. A LUT can help maintain a chosen style, but it does not remove the need to check each shot for exposure and white-balance differences.

- Create amazing videos with fun effects and interesting transitions.
- Record or add audio clips to your video, or simply pull stock sounds from the NCH Sound Library.
- Enhance your audio tracks with impressive audio effects, like Pan, Reverb or Echo.
- Share directly online to Facebook, YouTube, and other platforms or burn directly to disc.
Improve consistency while filming
For repeatable white balance, a neutral gray card can serve as an optional on-set reference. It is not required by Filmora, and it cannot by itself ensure that separate clips will match perfectly. Filmora documents white-balance correction and matching footage from multiple cameras; using a consistent capture reference is a practical way to reduce avoidable differences before editing.
