To stop future financial-data sharing, sign in to the Account Aggregator (AA) app or website that handled the request, open its consent-management area, select the specific active consent, and use its revoke control. First check the recipient, purpose, accounts and information covered, fetch frequency, and expiry. Revoking a consent stops further access under that permission; it does not, by itself, establish that data already received by the recipient has been deleted.
What an Account Aggregator consent controls
In India’s AA framework, an Account Aggregator is an RBI-regulated intermediary that obtains and manages customer consent and facilitates financial-data transfer. The Financial Information Provider (FIP) is the bank or other participating institution holding the information. The Financial Information User (FIU) is the institution or entity receiving it for the purpose stated in the consent. The government describes participation as voluntary and based on customer consent. The Press Information Bureau’s explainer says a customer can reject a sharing request at any time.
Consent is specific: it identifies information and a purpose, names the recipient, and includes an expiry. Depending on the request, it may also show the linked account and how often information can be fetched. An AA consent is therefore not necessarily a one-time transfer; review the details of the particular permission rather than assuming all access ends after one fetch. Federal Bank’s AA overview explains the consent-and-fetch process and its parameters.
Find the consent and revoke it
- Identify the AA. Check the consent request, approval notification, or related account message for the AA’s name, then sign in to that AA’s app or website. If you are unsure which AA handled the request, check the notification or contact the named AA or requesting FIU. The government explains that customers register through an AA app or website and use an AA handle in the consent process: PIB’s AA explainer.
- Open consent management. Look for a section labelled “Consents,” “Manage consents,” or similar; the exact wording and layout vary by provider. Do not assume the control is in your bank’s app—the AA named in the request may provide it.
- Select the right permission. Compare the recipient or FIU, stated purpose, information and accounts covered, fetch frequency, and expiry. These details help distinguish the consent you intend to stop from other active permissions.
- Use the revoke control and confirm. Follow the AA’s confirmation steps for that consent. RBI’s Account Aggregator Directions require a revocation mechanism, including the ability to revoke consent for parts of the accessible information; the directions also provide for a fresh consent artefact to be shared with the FIP after revocation. See the RBI Master Direction – NBFC – Account Aggregator (Reserve Bank) Directions, 2016.
- Check the resulting status. If the AA shows a status or history, confirm that the consent is no longer active and keep any confirmation for your records. Available status and record features depend on the provider.
Onemoney example
Onemoney’s support instructions, modified 16 April 2025, say to sign in with the registered mobile number and OTP, open Consents, select the active consent or open its request details, choose Revoke, review, and then confirm. The article says the FIU will no longer have access to financial data after confirmation. This is a provider-specific example, not a universal screen sequence: follow the current help instructions for the AA you used. Onemoney: Revoke Consent on Onemoney.

Compare consent details before acting
| Detail | What to check | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Recipient or FIU | The institution named as receiving the information | Identifies which organization the permission concerns. |
| Purpose | The reason stated for access | Helps distinguish permissions requested for different services or activities. |
| Information and account scope | The accounts and types of financial information included | Helps avoid revoking an unrelated permission; RBI’s consent requirements identify the nature of information. |
| Fetch frequency | Whether the request shows one-time or recurring access and its frequency | Clarifies whether further fetches may occur under the consent. |
| Expiry or access period | The stated end date or period | Shows how long access is intended to remain available. The government explainer says the access period is shown when consent is given. |
Consent fields and the access period are described in the PIB explainer, Federal Bank’s overview, and the RBI Directions.
What revocation does—and does not—do
Revoking the relevant consent is the action intended to end further access under that permission. The regulatory mechanism includes revocation and a fresh consent artefact to the FIP. The available sources do not establish that revocation automatically deletes information the FIU has already received. If your goal is deletion of previously shared data, contact the FIU and ask about its privacy or retention process; do not treat AA revocation as a deletion request.

Common mistakes to avoid
- Looking only in the bank app: consent controls may be in the AA app or website named in the request.
- Unlinking an account instead of revoking consent: the cited sources establish a consent-revocation mechanism, but do not establish that unlinking alone revokes every active permission. Use the explicit revoke action and check its status.
- Assuming every AA has the same interface: menu names and confirmation steps vary; the Onemoney sequence above applies to that provider’s published instructions.
- Assuming every consent is one-time: check the specific permission’s frequency and expiry before deciding what to revoke.
How broad is the AA framework?
The Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, reports framework figures attributed to Sahamati as of 31 March 2026: 179 Financial Institutions live as FIPs, 989 live as FIUs, more than 2.88 billion financial accounts enabled for AA sharing, and 284.6 million accounts linked by users. These are ecosystem-wide figures, not a measure of an individual’s consent or a guarantee that a particular institution participates. Department of Financial Services: Account Aggregator Framework.
