To make your iPhone Camera remember settings, open Settings > Camera > Preserve Settings and turn on the switch for each setting you want it to retain. These are separate controls, not one master switch, and the options available vary by iPhone model and iOS version.
Turn on Preserve Settings

Open Settings on your iPhone.

Tap Camera, then Preserve Settings.

Turn on the switch beside each setting you want Camera to keep when you open it again.
Apple describes these controls as saving the last camera mode, filter, lighting, depth and Live Photo settings used so they are not reset the next time Camera opens. Apple’s guide to saving camera settings notes that the exact options depend on the iPhone and iOS version.

Choose which settings Camera should remember
Enable only the switches that match the behavior you want. Apple lists the following options where supported:

| Live Photo | The last-used Live Photo state. |
Keep exposure adjustment from resetting
If you change exposure in Camera and it resets after you reopen the app, enable Exposure Adjustment under Settings > Camera > Preserve Settings. Apple’s iPhone camera tools guide says exposure control otherwise resets when Camera is reopened; the preserve option is listed for iPhone 11 and later.
Make Live Photo stay on or off
In the Camera app, set Live Photo to the state you want—on or off—then open Settings > Camera > Preserve Settings and enable Live Photo. Apple says this saves the Live Photo setting and that the preserve option is on by default.

If a setting is missing

Check the on-device Settings > Camera > Preserve Settings menu. Not every iPhone offers every option.

Remember that availability can depend on both the iPhone model and iOS version. Apple’s online iPhone User Guide is maintained over time and does not state a publication date, so the menu on your device is the practical reference for the options available to you.
