To give yourself more time to finish speaking, open Settings > Accessibility > Siri and set Siri Pause Time to Longer or Longest. Apple’s iOS 26 guide describes this setting as how long Siri waits for you to finish speaking.
Change Siri’s pause time
- Open Settings on your iPhone.
- Tap Accessibility, then tap Siri.
- Under Siri Pause Time, choose Longer or Longest. Apple lists Default, Longer, and Longest as the available options in its iOS 26 guide to Siri accessibility settings.
Which pause-time option should you choose?
Choose Longer if Siri tends to respond before you finish a request; choose Longest if you need still more time. The setting controls how long Siri waits for you to finish speaking, as Apple also explains in its iOS 26 guide to turning on and activating Siri.

Apple does not specify the pause duration in seconds for Default, Longer, or Longest, so the labels are qualitative rather than exact timers. Menu wording may differ in translated interfaces or later iOS releases.

Where to find it—and what it changes
Siri Pause Time is in Accessibility settings under Siri. It is separate from settings for Siri’s voice or spoken responses: change this option when you want Siri to wait longer before deciding you have finished talking. No accessory or additional tool is needed.
