To lower the volume on an ASUS TUF Gaming monitor, open its on-screen display (OSD) and go to System Setup > Sound > Volume. Reduce the value, or choose Mute to silence the monitor. ASUS documents this path on the VG27AQ3A and VG27AQM1A; button controls and menu details can differ on other models.
Lower the volume in the monitor’s OSD
- Use the monitor’s physical navigation control to open the OSD.
- Choose System Setup, then Sound.
- Select Volume and reduce the value. On the VG27AQ3A and VG27AQM1A, the documented range is 0–100. Select Mute if you want silence instead of a lower level. ASUS VG27AQ3A manual · ASUS VG27AQM1A manual
Find the right control for your model
The physical buttons or joystick used to open and navigate the OSD are not necessarily the same across TUF Gaming monitors. Check the model number on the monitor and use its matching manual for the exact control sequence and menu labels. ASUS notes that features vary by model. ASUS Support
Use a shortcut if your model supports it
The VG27AQ3A and VG27AQM1A manuals list Volume as an available shortcut assignment. If your monitor offers configurable shortcut buttons, assign Volume to one for quicker access. Shortcut availability can depend on the selected function or active setting, so check your model’s manual.
If the OSD controls are locked
If the controls appear disabled, check whether Key Lock is enabled. The VG27AQ3A manual says to hold its navigation button for more than five seconds to cancel Key Lock. That instruction is model-specific; follow the procedure in your own monitor’s manual.

If changing monitor volume does not fix the sound
First check whether you are adjusting the monitor’s audio setting or the output level on the connected computer or console. The manuals document the monitor’s own volume control, but do not establish that its setting is synchronized with source-device volume.
Also verify that your particular model has the audio hardware or connection you are trying to use. For example, the VG27AQ3A manual lists built-in 2 W x 2 stereo speakers and an earphone jack; that specification should not be assumed for every TUF Gaming monitor. If sound is missing, noisy, abnormal, or still cannot be controlled, consult ASUS support for your exact model. Its support index lists an audio troubleshooting article updated April 7, 2026.
