To loop a diya and rain ambience video as a YouTube Live broadcast, send the video from an encoder such as OBS Studio. Add the file as an OBS Media Source, enable Loop, connect OBS to a live stream in YouTube Studio, and start streaming. YouTube’s player loop only repeats playback for a viewer; it does not broadcast your video live.
Before you start
- A finished video file with the diya visuals and rain audio you want to broadcast.
- A computer running OBS Studio and an internet connection with enough upload capacity for your chosen stream quality.
- A YouTube channel with live-stream access and a stream key from YouTube Studio.
- Permission to broadcast every part of the video and audio. Use your own recording or material cleared for live broadcast.
Check live-stream access in YouTube Studio before preparing the broadcast. YouTube says access can be disabled because of restrictions, and an active restriction cannot be bypassed by streaming from another channel. Its current guidance also includes age-related rules, including an adult’s presence when a participant under 16 streams from an adult-owned account. See YouTube’s live-streaming access guidance.
Loop one video file in OBS
- Prepare the source. Confirm the video plays correctly on your computer and includes the sound you intend to broadcast. Keep the original file as a backup.
- Create a scene. In OBS Studio, create or select a scene, then add a Media Source and choose your local video file.
- Enable looping. Open the Media Source properties and turn on Loop. OBS will restart the file when playback reaches the end. OBS documents Media Source for Windows, macOS, and Linux and supports common video and audio formats. See the OBS Media Sources guide.
- Check the scene. Confirm the picture is visible and the audio meter responds. Play through the end of the file once, if practical, and check that the next loop begins as intended.
- Connect to YouTube Live. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room, create or select the live stream, and use the encoder connection details shown there to connect OBS. Keep the stream key private; anyone who obtains it may be able to stream to your channel.
- Test before going live. Start the encoder test and check the image, sound, and stream health in YouTube Studio. YouTube recommends testing before a broadcast and monitoring stream health while it is live.
- Start the broadcast. Once the connection and preview look right, start the stream in OBS and follow the Live Control Room prompts to make the event live.
Recommended YouTube encoder settings
Choose settings your upload connection can sustain reliably. YouTube’s recommendations are targets, not a guarantee that a particular home connection can maintain them without drops.

These figures are YouTube Help recommendations, with no publication date displayed; accessed 2026. Check YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate guidance for its current choices. A higher setting is not automatically better if your connection cannot sustain it.

Loop a playlist of ambience videos
If the broadcast should rotate through multiple files rather than repeat one, use OBS’s VLC Video Source. Add the files to its playlist and enable Loop Playlist. OBS states that VLC must be installed for this source to be available. The source and playlist options are described in the OBS documentation.
Copyright, monetization, and the live replay
Clear the video and audio rights
YouTube says: “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” A match can cause a placeholder image or warning; if the material remains, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the stream. Even if you have a license, the rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Read YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

That applies to the complete ambience file, not just the visible diya scene. Check the rights for rain recordings, music, sound effects, stock footage, and any other included material before broadcasting.
Do not assume a looping stream will be monetized
YouTube’s channel monetization policies apply to live streams. Its policy page says the former “repetitious content” policy was renamed “inauthentic content” in an update dated July 15, 2025, and explains that generic, repetitive, or mass-produced material may not meet its originality and authenticity requirements. Reused-content review is separate from copyright permission. An original diya scene with rain you recorded yourself may help show authorship, but it does not guarantee monetization approval or revenue. See YouTube’s channel monetization policies.

Keep a copy if you need the replay
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured. If you need a replay, preserve the original video and consider making a local recording. The 12-hour guidance comes from YouTube Help, with no publication date displayed; accessed 2026.
