To log out of Amazon on a smart TV, sign out inside the Prime Video app. Open the app, go to its Settings or account controls, and choose Sign Out. If the TV does not offer that option or the sign-out fails, deregister the TV from your Amazon account in a web browser through Account & Settings > Devices.
On a TV, “Amazon” in practice means the Amazon account used by the Prime Video app. Signing out of Prime Video is a separate action from signing out of your television maker’s account, and the steps below cover only the Amazon side.
Sign out from the Prime Video app
Use this route first when you have the TV in front of you and the app shows a sign-out control.
- Open the Prime Video app on the TV.
- Open Settings, or the app’s account or profile controls, depending on how the app is laid out on your TV.
- Select Sign Out. Confirm if the app asks you to.
Menu wording and placement differ between TV platforms, app versions and regions. Amazon’s own example for an LG television follows this same pattern: open the app’s Settings and select Sign Out. Treat that as one illustration rather than a map that applies to every model. If you cannot find the option, the deregistration route below is the fallback Amazon’s help material describes.

Deregister the TV if local sign-out is not available
Use this route when the TV has no working sign-out control, the sign-out does not complete, or you cannot reach the TV at all. You do not need the TV for these steps, only a web browser and your Amazon login.
- In a browser, sign in to Prime Video with the account that is on the TV.
- Open Account & Settings.
- Select Devices.
- Find the smart TV in the list and select Deregister beside it.
Amazon’s general device deregistration help page covers Fire TV and other Amazon devices. For a connected TV running the Prime Video app, the Prime Video sign-in and sign-out help page is the more relevant reference.

What deregistering changes
Once a TV is deregistered, it loses access to your Amazon account and the digital content and services linked to it until you register it again. Deregistering is therefore a bigger step than signing out. Use it when you want the TV removed from the account, not only when you want to switch users on that screen.

Choosing between the two routes

If the steps do not work
- Check your internet connection. Amazon’s Prime Video sign-in help notes that temporary connection problems can cause sign-in and sign-out to fail. Try again once the connection is stable.
- Confirm you are signed in to the browser with the same Amazon account that is used on the TV.
- Do not treat the TV’s manufacturer account (for example a Samsung or LG account) as the same thing. Signing out of Prime Video does not sign you out of that account, and the steps above do not change it.
